Gonna need a stiff 🇨🇦 drink after that hour and a half of weirdness.

Honestly it wasn't that different. Produce ended up a little pricier because there were a few items that I had to buy organic to get grown in Canada. The only thing I couldn't find a Canadian product for was flax seeds. I'd say I paid less than 5% more than usual, and happy to do so.

Did the big grocery shop for the week and bought absolutely nothing from the US. Got a few items from Mexico and some really nice Portuguese pears, but everything else was produced in Canada.

There will be nothing American coming into my house.

Thank you! As a Canadian, I should probably have more domestic stuff, but I'm more of a Scotch guy.

The Legacy was discontinued a long time ago, so don't think I'll find another one. But I think I'll be ok...

Seems like a perfect night to rediscover just how delicious Canadian whisky can be.

Tonight we have a lovely 22 year old Glen Keith from 1998 bottled by Valinch & Mallett.

Unfortunately I don't, but I do have a couple nice Speysiders on deck that could be cracked to replace it...

Friday #bottlekill

This 25 year old 1996 Benrinnes is the bottle that started my current love affair with old ex-bourbon Speyside malts. Lovely sweet funky fruity and just a little dusty. It's a beauty and I'll miss it.

WIYG tonight?

I spent a lot of time at The Caledonian back when I lived in Toronto, I miss Donna and the crew. Unfortunately there aren't any bars in Hamilton with a selection like that, but we make do with our home collections.

Yes, do it!

Yeah, I also like to open bottles with friends, thankfully we have a pretty solid whisky community here in Hamilton, so I don't often find myself without some buddies to get into some new bottles together.

I'm also a fan of their bottles. The old label 95 is particularly nice!

That 35 is a birth year bottle for me. Can't wait to hear what it's like!

A little treat from Friday night after my first full week back at work after the holidays. A successful conference in Vancouver, 4 deals closed, and plenty of momentum for Q1, so I thought I might as well get into something yummy!

Burgie never disappoints.

Mail day!

Today we received a 13 year old Mannochmore finished in Amontillado and a nice refill bourbon 20 year old Craigellachie.

I'm excited to try both of these Speyside beauties!

After 29 days in Brazil without any good whisky and a 27 hour trip home, it's high time for something delicious. I think a 22 year old Mortlach will do the trick!

It's been a while since I dipped into this bottle and holy hell is it ever fantastic. Welcome home to me!

A fresh #bottlepop to celebrate the end of a beautiful summer day in Brazil.

Actually, more of a bottle "crack", given the twist top...

Brazil is a bit of a whisky desert, so I'm telling myself that this is a lovely teaspooned Glenburgie.

Down at the Copa... Copacabana!

Nothing like a summer Christmas in the southern hemisphere. Not much in the way of whisky down here, but the caipirinhas are spectacular, as is the scenery!

Oh man, I wish! I'm in Canada, so unfortunately it's not just round the corner to Wishaw :(

FoB baby!

Friends of Bruichladdich has been one of my favourite FB groups for years, and I've finally managed to snag some FoB exclusive bottles.

First crack has lovely dark fruit and berry notes paired with some really nice barley sugar and caramel.
