Entwicklungszusammenarbeit ist kein Geschenk an die Empfängerländer, sondern strategische Vorsorge, die eben auch den Gebern nützt. Gerade in der geänderten Weltlage brauchen wir nicht weniger Hilfe, sondern müssen dafür sorgen, dass sie besser funktioniert.

Diese großen Vorteile für die Geberländer kommen in der Debatte über die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit leider bisher viel zu kurz. Um das zu ändern, liefern wir in der neuen Studie einen systematischen Überblick der empirischen Evidenz.

. Beispielsweise bringt uns ein Euro, der in Pandemieprävention gesteckt wird, mehr als 10 Euro in verhinderten Schäden hierzulande. Ganz zu schweigen von den Vorteilen, die diese Investitionen für andere Länder bringen.

Sie machen unsere Welt sicherer, stabiler und mindern das Risiko globaler Krisen, wie Pandemien. Das ist kein Nice-to-Have. Kluge Zusammenarbeit im beiderseitigen Interesse hat messbare Vorteile auch für uns im Geberland.

Auf diese Fragen wollen wir mit unserem aktuellen Forschungspapier eine Antwort geben. Unsere Analyse der empirischen Literatur hat ergeben: Investitionen in Bildung, Gesundheit oder Konfliktprävention im Ausland zahlen sich doppelt aus.

While one might disagree with some of the content of what is announced...what a contrast to the style of political communication our American friends have to endure.

So on migration: expect more pressure in Europe to reduce asylum seeker inflows to Germany. Very clearly, the new coalition tries to make asylum seeking on Germany less attractive by making it more similar to its tougher neighbors. Let's wait for the written coalition agreement to learn more...

But now, true to form, he finishes off with migration..making a joke about the others not expecting him to leave this topic out. He announces a set of small, tough policies for asylum seekers and refugees and then boasts about the party getting the interior ministry.

"Germany will remain an immigration country."

The CSU's (Bavarian sister of Merz's party) leader, who tended to be the toughest and most populist on migration of the three parties in the past decade, does not mention migration at all. Instead focus on the economy: "Yes, we are also a car country."

Interesting vibes in the announcement of the new German coalition. Future Chancellor Merz announces more deportations, an end to resettlement and family reunification for refugees, and to fast track nationalization. The socio democrats' leader starts reassuring citizens with migrant background.
