I'll take catharsis by proxy... if only the USA would take notes. Really happy for Brazil, though! I hope they can continue to keep authoritarians at bay.

Still does, honestly. I've yet to get a tattoo but I've considered getting "Beauty lies behind the hills" somewhere...

I was DEEP in the closet when I first listened to the album and I didn't even recognize at the time why it affected me so much. Powerful stuff.

Also, as a gay guy, Run Boy Run is so damn powerful. The Golden Age is a masterpiece of an album.

Woodkid is incredible. I still listen to Iron semi-regularly cause there's so few songs that wring my soul quite as hard as that one.

The end credits are great... what terrible horrible things I would do for a Portal 3 with the Portal 2 team returning... 🫠

This is what happened to me. Employers across the board need to be aware of how harassment campaigns work and do better to protect their employees from them. These people should not have a platform to profit off of harassment.

Got it! I'll give it a go. I've been meaning to play this one for over a decade... It's about time haha

I really need to play this one... I've never watched the anime either, despite the immense amount of praise it gets. People warn me that it takes a pretty long time to "warm up", so to speak. Do you think that's true?

4 months ago 0 0 1 0

I'm only asking this to make sure I'm in the right mental place to play it (I already bought it!): I see the disclaimer that it is fully linear. Which is fine! But is there any dialog choices at all?

Wow, I just read that interview and YIKES. The moment they brought up Hindenburg Research, Baszucki instantly went hyper-defensive. Really struck a nerve.

Also, "I would push back on that a bit" is a new phrase to raise my blood pressure a bit. Fun.

Hmm... I've still yet to play this one. I've put an ABSURD amount of hours into Crusader Kings 3 but that's mostly because I really enjoyed not actually playing and just watching the AI duke it out like an ant colony...

Intuit is a scam company so it is not even a tiny bit surprising that they're latching onto another scam.

Are you going to announce Half Life 3 during this stream?

‘Wicked: For Good’ Has A Lot To Fix Wicked’s Act 2 Is Messy— And Not Because of Love Triangles And Political Drama

Truthfully, I don't think the limited characters of Bluesky is the best place to go into it. It's not just the ending, honestly... either way, I think this article does a pretty good job describing the issues with Act 2 as a whole (Spoilers, of course): medium.com/theuglymonst...

It really is. The musical (and even the book itself) take a serious nosedive after the intermission/halfway point. It's a shame too because the first part has such an interesting setup but I don't personally believe the second half delivers at all.

5 months ago 3 0 0 0

I'm honestly not surprised... even in the original musical, the second half was generally considered much weaker than the first part. Considering how great the first part is, I'm sure part two is still quality but it seems they understandably kept the rather disappointing ending.

Interview: Oleksa Lozowchuk on The Outer Worlds 2 Soundtrack Recently, I had the opportunity to interview the composer behind The Outer Worlds 2, Oleksa Lozowchuk. Lozowchuk has also worked on the soundtracks for games like Horizon Forbidden West and the Dead Rising franchise, among others. He's also the co-founder of Interleave, a "collective of 20+ super-collaborative and award-winning music and audio professionals" from the gaming industry and beyond.

From all of us who worked with Becky at Interplay Entertainment, and the rest of us who have deep respect for her contribution to our industry, we want to extend our condolences to Rebecca Heineman's family and friends. Her spirit will live on in all who learned from her and loved her.

Upon replaying Outer Worlds 2, I continue to find it an incredibly impressive work of artistry. And yet... man, is it unfortunately apparent that The Protectorate was intended to be a faction. Not sure at what point it was cut but the phantom limb is definitely still there.

This mural has gone up in Kingston, ostensibly for Christmas but AI has ensured it's actually to celebrate the return of our dark lord Cthulhu

Does blocks include Lego blocks? Because I would like to request a Bright Red - 21, 1 x 1, Item #3024 block plate please.

It's so funny because one of the leads allegedly got fired over putting too much time into his AI Film Venture to make a Christmas movie... This shit does not feel like real life.

RIP to a games industry pioneer and legend, Rebecca Heineman (@burgerbecky.bsky.social) If your unfamiliar, look her up. Her career is like the story of videogames itself.

Valve has a flat structure so projects are picked among the staff via internal marketing and popularity. It's my working theory that the development of DOTA2, TF2's Marketplace, and the immense success of Steam brought in a LOT of people that valued very different things compared to 2000s Valve.

5 months ago 3 0 0 0

Me neither! It... kinda makes sense, considering the state of Valve basically since they acquired DOTA up to essentially when Alyx came out. From around 2012 to even now has just been kinda... sad for anyone who was a fan of HL/Portal/L4D Valve. Alyx feels like an exception.

5 months ago 4 0 1 0

Gotcha! I tried to do a bit of searching to find it but I've yet to play Alyx (due to a lack of a VR headset) and I've been successfully avoiding spoilers for years now. I suppose I'll have to take your word for it :p

It seems like it both works and doesn't work. From a lot of the things I've read, it can be a kind of miserable experience due to how it boils down to a big popularity contest and constantly needing to "market" your own idea to your coworkers. For making absurd amounts of money, it's working, yeah.

5 months ago 0 0 0 0

Ah, interesting. The way Valve functions with their flat structure is almost specifically designed to ensure something like this *can't* happen but I suppose you can only do so much when someone has a large amount of influence. Is there a source for this somewhere? I'd love to read about it!
