First weekend since 1993 with no dog. Not loving it.
Surrey gang cops all reassigned as staffing shortages continue. vancouversun.com/news/crime/s...
Were the government lawsuits and murders of Hardside members too much for these Surrey Hells Angels? Hardside folds, but new West Side chapter starts on the island. vancouversun.com/news/crime/s...
Just to explain court math - the sentence was 15 years minus 7 years, 2 months credit for pretrial custody. 2 years in jail in Puerto Rico, for which he got 1.5/1 for each day as credit. Then another 2 years in BC where he got 2/1 credit. With stat release, he'll be out in 5 yrs.
D'Monte denies he was ever a member of the UN gang, though former UN gangsters testified in earlier trials that he was actually UN gang leader for a period. D'Monte expressed remorse in court Wednesday, and called those former gang members who testified liars.
UN gang associate Conor D'Monte sentenced to 7 years, 10 months for role in conspiracy to kill the Bacons and Red Scorpions. A murder charge he faced was stayed Wednesday. vancouversun.com/news/crime/g...
Back at work after a few weeks away, so catching you up on the latest with the BC government v Hells Angels lawsuit over clubhouses: vancouversun.com/news/no-crim...
Still enjoying my life as a reporter Richard! But I wouldn't mind being on the Park Board some day. I might even start my own Pool Party.
Both Arkinstall and his Hells Angels chapter are named as defendants in the latest government lawsuit seeking forfeiture of 3 more biker clubhouses. vancouversun.com/news/bc-file...
Mission City Hells Angels and convicted drug smuggler Jason Arkinstall gets day parole, despite on-going HA membership. But he has to stay away from his fellow bikers. vancouversun.com/news/bc-hell...

I don’t think they were, but I couldn’t confirm that by deadline yesterday so didn’t include it. But it’s something I will follow up on.
Expert and former Mountie Frank Grosspietsch says more training is needed to guide police to get permanent prohibitions in extreme situations.
While police say the specific guns Jesse VanRootselaar used were not among those seized/returned, Jesse still had access to guns in the house despite grave mental health issues.
BC has sadly had several cases where guns were seized over mental health concerns, then returned and used to kill. vancouversun.com/news/local-n...
In fact, Wiwchar tried to escape as well in July 2022 - days after his co-accused Rabih Alkhalil broke out of North Fraser Pretrial. Wiwchar pleaded guilty in Aug. 2024 and was sentenced to 2 years, but was already serving life. (Alkhalil was arrested in Qatar last fall.)
Even if convicted, Wiwchar won't face any additional jail time as he's already serving life for a Toronto murder and was handed a 20-year sentence last month for the Sandip Duhre murder plot. So any new sentence would be concurrent.
Convicted Wolfpack hitman Dean Wiwchar is facing 2 new charges for allegedly attempting to break out of Surrey Pretrial. I broke this story last month. The escape attempt happened Dec. 7 - right after he told a judge he planned to reform his life: vancouversun.com/news/local-n...
Another Canadian pleads guilty in California to exporting meth to Australia as part of Surrey kingpin Opinder Sian's international drug ring. My story: vancouversun.com/news/crime/c...
Mashinchi is wanted on drug trafficking charges. He was earlier convicted in Boston of money laundering. He has links to the Wolfpack here in BC. He has Canadian, Iranian and German citizenship.
I investigated Mashinchi's suspicious leasing business back in 2018 - proving that he leased a North Van condo to Brothers Keepers founder Gavin Grewal, who was later murdered inside it. vancouversun.com/news/crime/f...
The allegations in 12 new civil forfeiture lawsuits says Mashinchi and his associates used a leasing company front to launder money by claiming criminal proceeds were lease payments for luxury condos. Mashinchi disappeared while under investigation in a VPD drug trafficking case.
Weekend exclusive: Money launderer and accused trafficker Omid Mashinchi is on the run, but the BC government wants $37 million in Metro Vancouver properties handed over as proceeds of his criminal activity: vancouversun.com/news/metro-v...
Owners of house rented by Hardside Hells Angels say bikers have been evicted and that landlords knew nothing of criminal activity; no HA members have filed responses yet to BC govt lawsuit: vancouversun.com/news/crime/b...
First US sanctions, then a police raid that found 17 tonnes+ of chemicals (some used in fentanyl and methemphetamine) and now B.C. wants Bobby Shah's $3 million house forfeited. But no charges yet. vancouversun.com/news/bc-want...

Another fatal shooting in Surrey today - a body was found in the 3800-block of 176 Street, in a farming area, just before noon. No info yet on whether it is connected to any other recent shooting.
Yes. Just posted a story
