NWS has issued over 700 warnings for severe t-storms, tornadoes or flash flooding since 8am Wed. All while short-staffed. Truly incredible work, as always!

From NWS Paducah:

โ€œโ€ฆdue to limited staff availability, we will have to cancel our student volunteer program for 2025 and suspend new arrangements for prospective meteorology students to shadow at our office until further notice.โ€

Louisiana skies still have a bit of blue, even with some flurries falling

Do you live in the Southeast U.S.? Did you receive a tornado or severe t-storm warning from the NWS yesterday? Did you feel good knowing someone is watching out for you & letting you know potentially dangerous weather was headed your way? If so, maybe let others know why you think NWS is important.

Sunday's a BIG #NFL football day. However, there will be a #tornado threat in parts of the Deep South.

If a tornado warning is issued anywhere in the area, your station WILL interrupt to cover the storms. You may not be affected, but SOMEONE is. Those viewers at risk deserve full coverage too.

I loved AGU last year! One benefit for me was that I could explore other interests that normally aren't represented at AMS. I also found that I felt safer and more represented in the AGU "Disabled Geoscientists" group than I did in the AMS disability group

A reminder to folks in all sectors: people with disabilities can excel in their chosen career paths. And offer invaluable perspective. Be an ally. Don't rely on them to educate and self advocate alone. Many already struggle to work in an ableist world. #disabilitysky #disabledinstem #accessibility

Hey Bluesky, I'm Anna!

~I'm a meteorologist by trade, but am also interested in emergency management, research, social science, and GIS

Folks who think a gathering of scientists constitutes an echo chamber have likely never attended a conference.
