Me teaching high school politics in Canada for the FIRST time ever this semester: “kids I have no idea what the f**k is going on either.”

Wild how different these results were compared to the Pallara poll.
“As the anthem reminds us: the True North is indeed Strong and Free!”
Vive le Canada, and God Save the King. 🇨🇦
Trump’s career is a good example that the masses will in fact vote for the incompetent people even after they fucked up a whole term in office.
There are some real bozos in parliament. I don’t think they all need security clearance.
And this year the United States President continues to threaten to annex two NATO allies.
Your problem was parliament imposing taxes (and other things like daring to let the French Catholics in Canada keep being Catholic). The King only became a symbol of hate because he ignored the original pleas of the colonists for help against parliament.
Yeah when they wrote the Declaration they were equally appalled that the British let the Canadiens keep being Catholics and restricted the Americans’ ability to settle in “Indian” territory.
Why does Australia spell it “labor” when the rest of the Commonwealth would write “labour,” and it is only Canada’s crazy neighboUrs” the Americans who drop the “u” in words like “colour.”
Imagine of the King and Queen. Says they will "undertake a royal visit to Canada from Monday 26th to Tuesday 27th May"
King Charles will be opening Canada's parliament later this month — the first time the English monarch has done so in 50 years. He'll be delivering PM Carney's first speech from the throne.
It's a clear bit of symbolism as Canada tries to re-orient back towards Europe and way from America.
Prime Minister Mark Carney has an audience with His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace in London.
Later this month, Canada will have the privilege of welcoming Their Majesties The King and Queen to Canada — where His Majesty King Charles III will deliver Canada’s speech from the throne.
This historic honour matches the weight of our times.
It is so important now for the Commonwealth Realms to stand together against Trump’s America.
We are united by history, values, and the Crown.
Enough of Labour’s cozying up to Trump.
Candidate to come in three months out from an election and have PLENTY of time to run a competitive race. Esp. against a, again hypothetically, convicted criminal whose first term was a disaster. 2/2
Obviously our system is quite different and we have much (much) shorter elections, but Carney pulling the Liberal Party of Canada from a 2011-style wipeout into almost winning a majority in less than two months suggests that it is in fact reasonable to expect a hypothetical American presidential 1/2
The real story coming out of Canada’s consequential 2025 general election.
You cannot say 77% of voting Americans are against this when he won half of voters.
People who can’t be bothered to come out and vote against a candidate so obviously dangerous as Trump spoke just as loudly by their inaction as if they had cast a ballot for him.
A total ignoramus etc etc who is also a convicted felon who f**ked up COVID so bad he lost the previous election….
Trump isn't an ideologue. He doesn't give a crap who governs Canada. He just wants whoever governs Canada to suck up to him, and he got mad that Poilievre said mean things about him.
The great irony is that a Conservative government would probably be better for Trump than a Liberal one.
Very few ridings actually have polls. Aside from Toronto or Vancouver, few cities even have the density to come up with a statistically significant sample.
Projections like 338 are imperfect, although reasonably accurate. They cannot be said to be polls.
“Majority of Americans.”
I am sorry (typical Canadian, eh?) but that is patently not true. Between those who voted for him and those who couldn’t be bothered vote against him, we’re talking Bout 2/3rds of the country.
I hope the sensible minority of Americans will triumph… but you are a minority.
What even does “rejoin the British Empire” mean?
There is no British Empire. Does this mean a hypothetical CANZUK, where we’d remain sovereign and an equal partner? Does it mean return to colonial rule, despite that not being remotely possible?
Unless you live in Nepean, you have not voted for Mark Carney.
You HAVE voted for various Liberal candidates across the country.
The results being that overworked public servants need to work harder to make sure that this ballot can be delivered for voters.
Meanwhile, they’re protesting in a riding where the incumbent has no desire whatsoever to change the voting system. Who exactly is this for?
Rescue?
Sure as hell not on our to-do list. We’re just trying ti survive, here.
CANADIAN POLITICS IS WEIRD.
We can give ourselves so much more than the U.S. can ever take away. #CanadaStrong
Not threatening NATO allies would also help the US in future wars, too.
It’s a lovely evening sitting here in Canada, with a functioning democracy, allies around the globe, and tariff tree Port.
Americans: you sure you’re okay?
The US is harming themselves with these tariffs.
Pierre is on the ballot only in Carlton technically.
Let’s not needlessly presidentalize our system. Get out their and vote for your LOCAL Liberal candidate (or New Democrat in a handful of ridings where its a CPC/NDP battle).
