Notes on Access Journalism Why are they so happy to see you?

Creating and protecting the power of journalism—the power that balances out the competing power of the powerful people we write about—is also a collective responsibility. — @hamiltonnolan.bsky.social

Covering a high school baseball game and this pitcher has Cole Hamels’ mechanics pretty much exactly.

Does your boss have AI brain? Marketers are dealing with leadership who run memes through Claude, use pet names for chatbots, and outsource their gut instincts.

Before I left my last job, one of the "it's time to go" red flags was when a supervisor kept putting my stuff through Gemini, and didn't grasp why that upset me so much.

Good read:

Couldn’t be more excited to share the first episode of my cockamamie podcast concept. Thanks, again, to m’man @garretheinrich.bsky.social for hopping on, his help in setting me up and - most importantly - for recording a 2nd ep when I failed to record the 1st one

Betting on your phone seems to take all of the fun out of it. I’ve never been a big gambler, but I love physically going to a sports book, putting down like $5 on a team I want to win, and then going back to get actual cash.

This just feels like math homework but you lose money.

This was the Padres' third 1-0 win over Colorado in franchise history... and first time in Denver.

Is there a female equivalent of nicknames like Big Dog or Hoss? Like, a positive name that a stranger/acquaintance calls you.

Someone called me Hoss like 7 years ago and I’m still riding high off that.

I keep going back and forth between wanting a steady paycheck and wanting to never deal with corporate bs again.

There’s so much I love about freelancing, but the uncertainty is frustrating.

I think that would be a great blog idea. Maybe seeing which stadiums are clearer about their policies for bags. We’ve got clear bags in a few different sizes, but not everyone is that prepared. Especially those who don’t go to many games.

Disney made the movie Frozen so when you googled "Walt Disney frozen", it would show results for the movie instead of the urban legend that Walt Disney cryogenically froze his head

Hey babes of Bluesky -- I wrote about how ABS can affect the experience of watching/playing baseball from a psycho-social perspective. Per usual, there is a touch of numbers and my dumb brand of humor.

TAP in here... ha, get it?
