Just in the anecdata of my kid’s social group, while girls were more into it overall, most of the boys were also very into it as well. My specific boy still asks for it in the car.

I, for one, am proud to be an earthling, god bless the earth, etc.
You shouldn't need a medical reason to buy soda or candy bar. We consume things for pleasure as well as nutrition, and people who are in poverty shouldn't be denied a cheap treat because their source of food funding is being used for social experiments by a group of assholes and criminals.
This is the only thing I want to read about what that man posted.
apparently today's a good day for this
On the one hand, I am a grown adult with bills to pay and do not need to be spending it on frivolous polyester shit.
On the other hand, I have free will and maybe a Derpy Tiger Squishmallow would fix me.
yes, please do not fedpost
but also it is incredibly infuriating that the president of the united states can threaten to destroy an entire civilization with impunity and the rest of us have to say <redacted> a lot
again very funny to think that a critical pro trump message in 2024 was that he wouldn’t start world war iii
I know today is A LOT, so friendly reminder.
Armageddon is terrible, but our only other option was diversity trainings at work.
*my rule of thumb for inclusion on this list is: “Anyone I’m next-of-kin for, and anyone who would call me to bail them out of jail.” So spouse, kid, parents, bestie…
I don’t have a pager duty kind of job so this works in most contexts.
Definitely at least try this. I have devised a bespoke sequence of schedules and settings for what kinds of notifications get to reach me and when, but I’m willing to fiddle with and maintain it.
Perma-DND + a careful list of people who do need to be able to reach you* is enough for most people.
These are DC squirrels; they like seasoning on their food.
I expect to find them at my door, asking for mumbo sauce next.
We typically make it with the Hannah tzatziki from Costco but last night we tried it with the TJ’s tzatziki and it was very good.
And yeah, look, we know how to make tzatziki but the point is that we can make this fast without too much trouble; the packaged tzatziki is the logistical key to the whole thing.
And maybe it was because we were both so hungry and tired but it was the BEST THING, and from now until late fall we will probably eat it twice a week. And our kid HATES it so we end up just handing him a bowl of cut up veggies and some ranch instead.
It started because of a night when @tombridge.com was working late, and injured, and I was pregnant and exhausted, but wanted to make dinner instead of ordering it, so I threw together sausage and peppers, and wanted a salad with it but didn’t have much on hand. Total improv.
This site needs more food posting so here we go:
The salad we eat all the time, like 3 seasons of the year, is cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, tossed with a couple spoonfuls of prepared tzatziki sauce.
It often also has bell pepper in it, or feta or olives, but tomato/cuke/sauce is the minimum.
Also, you all should know that the streets at Walter Reed are *always* blocked.
Living in DC is like: every time I hear helicopters I’m looking out my window to see if it’s happening.
Oh no, delayed resolution is the WORST.
Estate planning is SO exhausting, but it’s such a relief once done.
I heard someone say that we should celebrate in such a way that it TERRIFIES those who are in charge in the future
ESPECIALLY asking for music! It’s so irritating; we’re using Apple’s own music service, why is this so hard?
Yeah, using music to improve mood is intuitive enough, and “specifically try music you liked as a teenager” seems like a worthwhile trick to try.
Right? The “alt rock of 1998” Siri playlist is permanently bookmarked for me.
Yeah, I don’t have a lot of nostalgia for actually being a teenager, but the music thing holds up. Even the music I associate with my teenage religious environment is still really enjoyable for me, even if *literally nothing else* about it is, which is weird and interesting.
I heard somewhere the other day that you can use that music to disrupt an especially bad/stressful mood and deregulate yourself, which might be some Instagram pop-psych bullshit but “listen to music you like” also feels like a harmless enough thing to TRY.
