Pages 16-19 of Andrew Loomis' Figure Drawing for All it's Worth helped me immensely with body proportions, even when dealing with cartoon characters. Still, to this day I tend to give my characters big heads on initial sketches, and it's only later on that I correct course.
And I still forget sometimes
There was about one year gap between the first Literal Cowboy comic (2019) and this one (2020), and I was hoping it was enough distance so that the last panel would be a surprise. Turns out the Literal Cowboy was never a popular character so most people didn't remember him at all ๐
