Two months ago, many of you helped start a new campaign dedicated to stopping the dangerous slide toward a Conservative supermajority. Now the hard work comes! We need Carney to pick the path Canadians voted for: robust democracy & climate action. Please use your voice!

No Jobs on a Dead Planet..Ignore climate to the peril of all.
In late 2022 we curated a night of music with the ROM. One of the artists we co-presented was @aysanabee.bsky.social who was still relatively unknown. How much has changed in 2.5 years. On his first headline tour and killing it! #nomusiconadeadplanet
Hey Gen Z & zillenials: come to our action call tonight to learn more about the stakes our generation is facing and how we can build power ahead of the incoming federal election! Register here: act.350.org/signup/call-...
Today, we launched the All of Us are Fed Up storytelling page.
Read extremely moving stories of Canadians confronting multiple crises. Thank you to everyone who took part.
Now, with an election around the corner, it's time for federal leaders to hear our voices and act. allofustogether.ca/fedup/
Thank you to @ecojusticecanada.bsky.social for putting together this important letter to our new Prime Minister Mark Carney. @markcarneyforpm.bsky.social We hope he ushers in a new era of bold and ambitious climate action.
Seen the Toronto Star’s front page? That’s why we’re in court.
The Ford government wants to tear out Toronto’s busiest bike lanes—ignoring evidence, common sense, and accountability. They know it puts lives at risk but passed a law, anyway, to shield themselves from lawsuits when people get hurt.
Sports and the Arts are the two places that green washing and attempting to buy social license happens the most. Good on @environmentaldefence.ca for this! @jflevin.bsky.social
Tomorrow join this musician and teacher canvass!
This is a good piece on qualified hope, eyes-wide-open hope, realistic hope.
We need folks who get it, have influence and understand culture (like you) to support organizations (like ours) and the #NoMusicOnADeadPlanet campaign. 🙏🌍🌎🌏💚
Powering the world with clean energy is common sense. It will secure the future for our grandchildren. The clean energy transformation is - and remains - unstoppable www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/t...
Tune in to CBC Q with Tom Power this morning and hear The Weather Station chat about new LP 'Humanhood' and much more www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...
Hello, Bluesky. For my first post, I'm pleased to share this op-ed I penned for @streetsoftoronto.com on the state of Toronto's small venues & their scrappy survival, looking at the success of the UK's @musicvenuetrust.bsky.social creating new means of support.

If rumours are true, Mark Carney & Chrystia Freeland must explain how they will differentiate themselves from other parties' lacklustre climate plans. At this time of unprecedented unnatural disasters, we need more on climate from @liberalca.bsky.social - not less.

Disappointing to see CIBC, TD, BMO and National Bank all flee the Net Zero Banking Alliance even though it was a mediocre climate initiative.
When LA is on fire & after the hottest year on record, climate backtracking is really out of touch.

Re: Danielle Smith's defection from team Canada over Trump tariff threat
It shows that resource dependency threatens Canadian sovereignty
This is what has informed debates about Canadian industrial policy and trade through our economic history.

Los Angeles, I see you. I see your tears, your generosity, your creativity, your beautiful mutual aid. You were never an old or stable city; you were a city of invention and imagination and change. You are maybe right now you are your best as well as most devastated self. 1906 account.
The upside to this litany of horrors is that we've entered a golden age of science communication:
@leahstokes.bsky.social @katharinehayhoe.com @elizkolbert.bsky.social @climatehuman.bsky.social @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social @billmckibben.bsky.social @weatherprof.bsky.social @michaelemann.bsky.social
This is important. But let's not ignore the root causes and the need to raise money for the fight against climate change too.
If you are interested in exploring how the arts and culture sector can respond to climate related disasters and become more resilient, consider applying to participate in this project we are a part of and being led by the Centre for Sustainable Practice in the Arts.
"Canada’s New Feeling Co-op is one of the most interesting models of co-op music writing that currently exists."
Huge ty to the excellent @lizpelly.bsky.social for this shoutout in her interview with @joshokane.bsky.social about her new book, Mood Machine!

To be clear: the PETROLEUM industry is a FIRE industry, which means it's a CO2 industry, which means it's a climate changing industry.
Still early, but latest LA fire cost estimates from Goldman Sachs: $20-$40 billion, with $10-$30 billion of that insured. Comparing to EM-DAT stats, both the Eaton and Palisades fires will likely be among the costliest wildfires in world history (pro tip: NEVER use AccuWeather disaster estimates).
