I hadn't originally intended to post this - not so much because it must be one of the most harrowing (but brilliant) pieces of reporting I've ever read, but because many wouldn't be able to access it anyway. Apparently (and apologies if this isn't the case), however, it's currently free to read.
Hi Josh! It has been a while. I’m still devastated about QuizUp 😅 hope you’re doing well!

Reflecting on a fantastic time at #LavLang30 in Brighton. Great to meet with colleagues and discuss current research in lavender languages, and present my work in progress PhD project on the identity construction of lesbian youth on TikTok 🦩🏳️🌈
Attended a fantastic talk today from SAYiT on ‘The Subversive History of the Drag King’. Great to see so many people attend this important part of queer history! We even got to see Vesta Tilley’s shoes, worn during her male impersonation costume, now displayed on exhibition at Weston Park Museum!
@christianilbury.bsky.social tagging you in this as I’m not sure if you know it’s here as well as Twitter. Really interested in your discussion about memetic discourse styles!
Wow, this is so interesting! It’s exciting to see this research emerging - thanks for sharing @lucyjones.bsky.social !
