"That requires, you know, intellectual humility — and a willingness to think about other people’s experiences."
"The people who tell us that AI will dominate our future and take our jobs are the people who are hoping that will be true."
"It is simpler just to give people things they actually want."

I haven't had a long enough breath to talk about how AI is ruining the open web. API after API I used to use is closing - literally because paying the $$$ required to feed these impersonation machines is prohibitive.

Something extraordinary – yet predictable – has happened over recent days on Facebook.

Fake accounts that usually post anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim content generated using AI to fuel division and hate in UK are now pushing out AI-gen content asking:

"Should the UK produce its own fuel again?"

Amazon, which saved $4B in taxes under Trump's Big Ugly Bill, has cut 30,000 jobs since last October.

Verizon, which saved $2B, plans to cut 15,000 jobs this year.

Meta, which saved $3B, plans to lay off 20% or more of its workforce.

Trickle-down economics is a cruel joke.

It is time therefore to reconsider where the catalogues are printed, even if this increases the cost (if they don't already, they could charge for the exhibition catalogues).

We can all learn a lot from the (many young!) people of Hungary who have protested peacefully for years and who turned out in high numbers to vote their candidate and his party into power tonight!
And this despite the fact that Orbán had backing from BOTH Russia and the USA!
Well done, Hungary!! ✨

Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that.

Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best.

The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.

He NEVER went up his own ass, NEVER.
And for a global superstar out of Hollywood this is a rare rare thing.

From Carpenter to icon.
A credit to my profession.
Love the guy.

I’m always reminded of the argument that we can’t fund X because we need Y and like, guys, there’s literally enough. Enough of everything that we could fund the whole damn all of it, nasa isn’t the problem; wealth hoarders and greed are the problem

This is Molly. She was finally found a week after her human fell down a 180-foot waterfall while hiking together in New Zealand. Her human was badly injured and rescued by helicopter, but Molly was missing. A week later, Molly was found at the base of the waterfall and reunited with her human. 14/10

Word (Microsoft) and equivalent on Apple has been catching typos, grammar mistakes etc for 25-30 years, so why would I use some new overblown AI tool to do it when the software I'm drafting into can show up those issues as I work. I enjoy thinking and drafting stuff myself (wordsmith at heart).

Now the approval is to allow the targeting of missile sites targeting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Similar approval, similar aim. Similar situation overall.
