Hey, #Editors & #WritingCommunity! πŸ‘‹πŸ»

I've topped up the scholarships for all my self-paced courses again!

There's a limited number of scholarship spots for editors and writers from marginalized groups.

They're first-come, first-serve, no questions asked.

The view from a window looking out on greenery and, in the distance, blue skies and sea.

Homemade writing retreat! A few days by the sea with my best friend, pretending nothing but our novels (and a massive stash of biscuits) exists.

The graphic provides information about the British Fantasy Awards. The suggestions list closes April 12th. We crowd source titles that are eligible for the awards. You can add your own works at this stage. If no-one knows your work is eligible, they won't know they can vote for it when voting opens. The voting period is from April 16th - May 3rd. This is when voting properly opens. You cannot vote for your own works, but you can campaign. BFS members and Fantasycon ticket holders can vote. Shortlists announced May 19th. Jury panels are May 19th - September 1st. Unlike many other SFFH awards, the BFAs are not just a popularity contest. Once the public voting is tallied, each category goes to a jury of peers for final decision making. Awards are announced at Fantasycon. As a disabled, neurodivergent, and queer creative, I'm particularly keen to work with and champion other marginalised and underrepresented writers, but if you're in need of some heartfelt cheerleading (and mad organisational skills), I'd love to support you!

Another thing about Mum - if I were any good, I'd write a poem about how clean she likes the house to be (a crumb on the side = the kitchen is A Right State), but I've just noticed a black patch on the stairs; fur woven into the carpet where our dog sleeps in the afternoon.

Mum has bought a hat to wear to my wedding. It is bright pink and sits at a jaunty angle. She's thrilled and I'm absolutely obsessed with it.

Do you have an LGBTQIA+ book coming out in April or May this year?

I'm looking at adding as many as possible to my Substack at the start of each month. If yours is released in April, see the below post.

On an NHS fatigue management course, yoga nidra was recommended to me as an alternative to naps. It's essentially a form of rest involving body scanning/meditation - I hate it but it does work for me! youtu.be/7H0FKzeuVVs?... <-- this is very close to the version the course used if you fancy it.

This is really important. Being inclusive means making space and adjustments for people who need them in order to continue to include them, not just including them in the first place.
