On this episode, we're talking to Jennifer C. Pan, author of Selling Social Justice: Why the Rich Love Antiracism, about why she thinks people on the left should be skeptical of DEI programs as well.

The actual ratio of Black women in the US population is about 6-8%. Collectively, Black people make up about 14-16%. But the point remains. Black women are uniquely vulnerable to partner violence and made invisible by systems that are supposed to protect women.
"Black women comprise 14% of the US population, but account for about 30% of homicides resulting from partner violence."
I will never forget how my publication on sexual violence got rejected from a journal because a reviewer believed race (which I emphasized) was not a relevant factor.
We need this from the bottom up more than the top down. We need strength in numbers that only the working class globally can create and sustain.
Both... I concluded that as a child because I couldn't understand how/why my uncles might let their sister's husband abuse them. Most often it was because they didn't want that lens turned on them, so the made up the excuse of "staying out of their business". Made up my mind it would never be me
The massive Orban defeat should prompt Dems to align themselves more firmly with anti-fascist and pro-democracy forces abroad. There's a powerful link to be drawn between the celebrations in Budapest and the confrontations with ICE in Minneapolis. 1/

This bill is an important first step towards cracking down on predatory pricing schemes, but fully regulating dynamic and surveillance pricing means going further.
Maryland and every other state still have work to do to regulate promotional offers, loyalty programs, and temporary discounts.

'In the 1970s, Joan Little was a young, poor Black woman who killed a Beaufort County detention officer who she said tried to sexually assault her. Her case sparked an international movement, and now filmmaker Yoruba Richen wants everyone to know her story.'

Klein: I agree that it is a revolutionary technology, that it is going to transform our economy on the scale of the Industrial Revolution.
But unlike the Industrial Revolution, which created huge numbers of jobs, the goal of this revolution is to eliminate jobs.

The Great AI Grift
Tech leaders want you to believe that AI is the key to a new golden age. The reality looks more like a bold, government-backed heist

Why not automatically register those eligible men (and women) to vote if its so easy to automatically register them for emergency military service.
Bernie has the right impulse but he needs to stop talking to "tech leaders" and parroting their unfounded claims and assumptions about the QUALITY of their AI.

Very similar to the "Sustainable Square Mile" created by the organization, Blacks In Green based in the Southside of Chicago. They are putting it into practice there.

We have an anti-trump movement.
But we need a pro-democracy movement.
And the leadership in NKs have very deliberately avoided allowing to to develop in that direction.
Yes I dont see a point in criticizing the demonstrations per se... but the organizers have chosen to deliberately make them agnostic on the agenda.
As the largest and most visible demonstrations we have that carries some responsibility along with the opportunity.
If we don't do it... Democrats could win by congress, win back the white house and just try to reassert pre-trump business as usual governance.
We do miss the opportunity of having each of these NKs mobilizations, organize people to target local and state level democratic reforms.
We desperately need the democratic reform as part of our national discourse and it should start at the local level because it wont come from the top.

Corey Booker is afraid to really say what's going on.
AI systems are built to function in ways that degrade and are likely to destroy our crucial civic institutions. In short, current AI systems are a death sentence for civic institutions, and we should treat them as such.

Because it's not acceptable to just admit he's racist...
Profit relative to the others they control and dominate is more important than maximum profit in aggregate. There is a Marxist term for this but I'm blanking on it now.
