Mother Tongue also has an extremely cool cover in the UK (which I feel ok bragging about since I have no hand in it at all 😆), featuring kind words from the great @esmewang.com.
It's out 11 June there and is available for preorder now. geni.us/MotherTongue

An Interview with Andrew Garfield - Believer Magazine I first became interested in Andrew Garfield and his work not from his starring role in the two big-budget Amazing Spider-Man films (2012, 2014), nor from his famous laptop-smashing scene in David Fin...

“I think I’ve developed a pretty healthy awareness of how small I am.”

They said to track our electricity usage with each appliance in our house. To go & watch the meter change and record it for every single appliance. (We did not do that.) I don’t think our electricity usage has changed THAT much, but God, have our electricity bills skyrocketed in the last few years.

We’ve been feeling that as well, to the point where I called the company because I was convinced the meter was wrong

The Museum of Almost on the beauty of unfinished things

Where others might see abandoned projects as evidence of failure, I see them as proof of making an effort despite all evidence to the contrary." www.reasonsforliving.co/p/the-museum... 👏 @esmewang.com is brilliant

When the Thread Breaks Navigating the Difference Between Writer's Block and Brain Fog

"[Writer's block is] the internal critic gone haywire, the imposter syndrome that whispers you're not good enough, smart enough, or talented enough to tell this story."

A really interesting (& brutal) piece about the commodification of Black identity in the art market in 2020-2022, & the opportunists who inflated art prices, only to devalue the same Black artists later

This is so helpful! Thank you—if it’s not TOO heavy, I think we could manage it. Much gratitude to you for this generous advice ❤️

I have POTS and did not know about coat hanger pain, but I think I have it! Is it possible to only have it in the neck and one shoulder/arm?

Well, it all started with the employees of a restaurant called SUR, which stands for Sexy Unique Restaurant…

(And yes, this is true.)

My husband (who has a handicapped spot placard) certainly got a kick out of it.

Thank you for this wisdom! Can I somehow download your knowledge into my brain? I will trade you for a LOT of knowledge about the storylines and characters of Vanderpump Rules

Oh hi, Matt! Glad to have you join the discussion!

I feel like yesterday that video was EVERYWHERE. People I know who have zero interest in disability issues were sharing it in their bro Discord chats.

I could definitely be persuaded to remove it! Out of curiosity, for these kinds of sentences—how do you make the judgment call when your “mental ear” hears it a certain way?

You’ll know more hopefully in not TOO too long ❤️

Oh my gosh, what a fun response! Thank you so much; I’ll jot that term down in my notes. I could be persuaded that I use it too much, and there are certainly times when I could reconfigure the sentence to avoid the issue. (& thank you so much, dear friend, for the kind word about the sentence.)

“It didn’t help that Cyprian’s youth had also conjured a grotesque jump-rope rhyme, which shocked Sabina anew when she heard it in the carpeted hallways of the Asters or on the playground in the Santa Marias’ K-8 school." I would rather put a comma before "or on the playground."
