We have a similar set here that we keep separate from our playable cards and would only trade them for other non-playable cards.

Consensus here is that it's a non-tournament legal fan made/proxy or promotional card with little or no market value. It's not technically "fake" because it's not pretending to be an actual card, but whoever traded with your kid almost certainly got the better end of the deal.

My grandfather invented those! In the United States, they're still known as "DeMet's Turtles", even though there's been no connection with my family for at least 60 years.

Entered #whamhalla the same way I did last year, dining out at a vegetarian restaurant. It wasn't the same restaurant though. 🤷🏻‍♂️ #whamageddon

I assumed it was because vanilla is used as the base for almost every every other ice cream flavor. It’s not that vanilla doesn’t have a flavor of its own, but it’s what all the other flavors are built on top of.

It is day 34 of the Billy Joel documentary. Billy has just fallen in love after a painful divorce. He has to go on tour because his manager was stealing from him. His latest album is unlike his previous albums but still inspired by his Long Island roots. John Mellencamp says it is a work of genius.

Jill Lepore did a deep dive on Musk’s science fiction influences and what he took from them:

Screenshot from IMDB of “Revealing Mistakes” from Yesterday's Enterprise (1990), reading

“For some reason, the uniforms worn by the senior officers on the Enterprise C do not have the turtleneck undershirts or the belts with the belt buckles, but they have belt loops as seen from behind. However, the crew members wearing the uniforms with the beige shoulders, presumably junior officers, are dressed more stylishly with the turtlenecks and belts.”

Gotta say that having the series finales of What We Do in the Shadows and Star Trek: Lower Decks both airing in the same week is hitting me harder than I expected.

If you’re gathering with family this Thanksgiving, it’s a great time to agree upon a safe word or phrase to use to establish your identity over the phone and mitigate against someone cloning your voice or likeness using AI to scam family members into giving them money.

It’s a good comparison overall, though I’d argue that Drupal CMS is more like the souped-up alternate timeline Enterprise D from the TNG finale.

Bluesky pro tip: When using a custom domain for your handle, make sure you verify that it’s still working anytime you make a change to the DNS settings for that domain.
