Spoiler alert: Elect Democrats. Generally a good strategy for encouraging environmental action.

Be careful what you suggest, Bill.

Canada needs a windfall tax on oil industry war profiteering Skyrocketing oil prices do not create profits out of thin air. They redistribute money away from consumers and businesses and into the pockets of oil companies.

www.nationalobserver.com/2026/04/15/o... β€˜There are many things the federal government could do with an extra $46b…But the best approach would be to invest these proceeds in reducing our dependence on oil &, thus, our vulnerability to future oil shocks’ @hadrianmk.bsky.social @policyalternatives.ca

Absolutely incredible.

NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.

Watch with sound on.

It's striking that you only seem to be able to argue against this law by analogy to a law we both agree is bad Can't you argue against it on its own merits or demerits)?

To clarify, I am a citizen of both countries. I was simply making the point that your performative horror over the idea that laws could be adjusted/interpreted by the executive branch after legislative passage isn't justified.

In Canada, where we have tough gun control laws and (like almost every other civilized country in the world) far fewer gun deaths, we often pass laws that are subject to regulations passed later by the "governor-in-council," i.e., by cabinet. Somehow, we haven't sunk into tyranny yet.

That was obviously a stupid proposal, easily. Distinguishable from the gun control bill you are opposing.

You can claim you are for gun control til the cows come home, but the reality is you're opposing a law that would make it harder to make untraceable, undetectable homemade handguns. That's the bottom line of your position: impeding gun control.

The @eff.org comes down hard against gun control.

I'm disappointed to see the Electronic Freedom Foundation opposing gun control.

Any chance of persuading Rogers / #Bluejays to drop Ace, the most pathetic mascot in MLB?

I don't know who wrote this headline, but rest assured, @suzannerent.bsky.social's article is not as miserable and mean-spirited as it suggests.

To anyone who thinks NS should get green credit for biomass generation: Take a closer look at the Port Hastings biomass plant. Its filthy emissions are second only to coal plants. The notion that it's renewable rests on the fiction that future tree growth will compensate for the damage it's doing.

If @ericswalwell.bsky.social did half of what he's accused of, he's unfit for office. But granting anonymity to someone making devastating allegations is crummy journalistic practice.

Urging senior officials not to carry out of riders that constitute war crimes is not "call[ing] for military coups."

The registration fees for electric vehicles are intended to compensate for the fact that, because we don't buy gasoline, we don't contribute to road construction and maintenance as ICE vehicles do. It's a separate issue from the taxation of these behemoth four-door pickup trucks with tiny beds.

Premier Houston seems to be spoiling for a fight with the province's Mi'kmaq reserves. I disagree with blocking highways, but it needn't have reached that point. The province could have started with negotiations, not criminal prosecution for a peaceful activity.

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution explicitly guarantees citizenship to everyone born in the US (except children of foreign diplomats). It could not be more clear. SCOTUS has no business hearing the case.

The Kirk tribute is something the Yankees put up on the scoreboard. Infinitely worse than someone buying a sign.

You wouldn't think the Yankees would need to invent new reasons to hate them, but this is what they've done.
