And the most insane, INSANE letter from a criminally incompetent psychiatrist explaining that this guy for some reason wasn't happy living in Nowhere with a mostly dead family working at the local cannery??? Weirdly??

I'd been giving Edith a great deal of leeway on the assumption that she was 16 or something, based on the immaturity of her monologue and decisions, and then she just mentioned that she's heavily pregnant.

Still possible she's 16 I guess but seems a bit unlikely, so now I'm just ???

I heard so much about how good the writing in this game is that I'm waiting for a GOTCHA that makes this pile of rubbish make sense, but I'm starting to feel like it's not coming.

Gameplay is fine I guess, and everything's pretty, but the plot is unintentionally hilarious through and through.

I think it's fair to say that What Remains of Ed1th F1nch is just not Working For Me (I know I'm late to the party!!!), but also just laughed out loud at this bold decision to memorialise a 1 year old baby who drowned in the bath with a bottle of bubble bath. Incredible stuff.

I'm all for rehabilitating the romance genre in the sense of no longer looking down on readers, but I wish it didn't come with this hilarious side-order of pretending all romance is extremely well written. Like all genres, some of it is, some of it isn't. ...a lot of it isn't.

Reminds me of a post I saw some years ago from a tourist in a Welsh pub. A drunk patron there kept going on about "Ed" being the source of all of his problems.

Tourist asked the bartender if there was any danger for Ed, given how upset he was. Reply was, "He's talking about Edward 1 of England."

We reflect a lot on what draws people to AI as a source of historical information. It's clear that for many people, the AI 'voice' comes across as authoritative and convincing in what it conveys, even when the actual content is pretty banal, surface-level or just plain wrong.
