Charlisse and Charlise drafted on the same night, the only Charlis(s)es in WNBA Draft history.

4 draftees moved via trade on* draft day is the most the WNBA has seen since the 2011 Draft (7 draftees moved in 5 trades).

Another first tonight: Charlise Dunn at No. 36 is the first player drafted to the WNBA out of Davidson.

Some details to fill in, but WNBA Draft details are available here:
2026: acrossthetimeline.com/wnba/drafts....
And tracking is of course already in progress for future years...

UCLA now with 6 players taken in the top 20 of the WNBA Draft tonight.
For perspective, only 8 other colleges have had 6+ top-20 picks total over the past decade.
Adding Gianna Kneepkens at #15 makes this the first time in WNBA Draft history a school has 5 players drafted in the top 15
2026 is the 2nd time in WNBA history a school has 4 players drafted in the first round (top 10, even) of the same draft.
2002 UConn: Sue Bird, Swin Cash, Asjha Jones, Tamika Williams
2026 UCLA: Lauren Betts, Gabriela Jaquez, Kiki Rice, Angela DugaliΔ
Does Cathy calling that the Portland Fire's "first pick" imply this is a completely distinct Portland Fire from the original Portland Fire?
Refusing to give her an L π
I thought that too but then remembered there are trades on there. All in jest, of course. They'll fix it soon. Probably.
Don't worry, far from done. Just 45 draft picks tonight, presumably ~45 required tenders issued, a good number of rookie scale contracts signed after that, and probably still some training camp contracts for undrafted players, on top of some free agents who still haven't yet signed.
WNBA transaction log entry with the Toronto Tempo logo and the text "The Washington Mystics matched Shakira Austin's offer sheet from the Toronto Tempo."
What, you don't think this one with the Tempo's logo on it is exactly right?
Looks like this will hold
Up to 170
Just clicked it and it took me to the "Washington Mystics General Manager" page? π
Lindsay Allen now signed with Dallas, which could be her 7th franchise she's logged regular/postseason minutes for.

And of course there are plenty of more coming, like DeWanna Bonner, who's signing was announced while posting this. π
Fair to say a lot of people in and around the league have been unusually busy.
(*could be more unannounced)
It's the largest number of pre-draft cores, QOs, and signings in a given year since tracking started at acrossthetimeline.com/wnba/transac... in 2018.
And it all happened in about a week.
Two new teams and a new CBA makes for a lot of activity.
From April 6 until today, counting core designations, qualifying offers, and signings, there have been at least* 160 finalized transactions in the WNBA.
Last year from January 11 until the day before the draft (3 months) there were 140.
Still some time to go and the uniqueness of this year's free agency very much in play, but worth noting:
14 of the 45 (31.1%) draft picks in the 2026 WNBA Draft have been conveyed via trade, the lowest percentage since the 2019 WNBA Draft (6 of 36 - 16.7%)

Will be continuing to track all day as free agent signings and other moves continue to roll in...

Okay but for sure the "first million-dollar player", right? π
The only franchise to have wins and losses against itself?
I knew there was another one that was problematic...
Surely Alyssa Thomas won't be considered the all-time postseason wins leader for the 4-time champion Houston Comets franchise, right? π
Along these lines, if anyone has any intel on how the Dallas Wings and the new Detroit expansion team are going to handle who gets the previous "Detroit Shock" as part of their franchise history, reach out. π
FWIW, several other notable players with 6 franchises to their name wouldn't be shocking to see signing and to new teams: Tina Charles, Odyssey Sims, Stephanie Talbot, Aerial Powers, Reshanda Gray, Moriah Jefferson, Lindsay Allen, Crystal Dangerfield, Cierra Burdick
Portland would be the 7th WNBA franchise Karlie has gotten regular/postseason minutes for.
Only one player has more: Kristen Rasmussen (8)
Karlie would tie 7 other players: Sheri Sam, Betty Lennox, Kelly Miller, Kiesha Brown, Tamara Moore, Shay Murphy, and Alaina Coates (7 each)
