Two similar stone columns from around the 11th century, elaborately carved in striated vertical waves.
Oh yeah?

Thank you Izzi! I'm hoping this comic will serve as a sort of "cut scene" for the players while they're away in another part of Wonderland, along with a gift to them, as it's mostly just me gushing about their characters through my art and through Argyle .
a pink-haired elf rests his arms over a comic panel. He has antenna and hair loops that look like bug mandibles
a pink-haired elf who has antenna and hair loops that look like bug mandibles looks a little worried as he shrugs.
I'm working on something for my Wonderland DnD game, and I just think Argypillar is so stinkin' cute! #oc #elf #dnd
I'm really sorry you're going through these feelings of artistic doubt and self-loathing, gosh do I know the struggle myself! FWIW I really enjoy your characters and your art, and it has always seemed to me that a lot of other people do, too!

This gift + lore comic I'm making for my Wonderland DnD game is allmmooost done! Here's a peek at Argypillar having a panic attack.
Thank you, Dave!! I really appreciate the nice words!
and yyessss on the tracing! Or really hard eyeballing the art I've already done at least. I do get that it's hard to draw a new oc but it also feels a bit of a let down to just have my own art of the OC redrawn back at me??
I think that's *possibly* what happened in my case, as well. But it still made me feel rather crummy, because it was a defense to a piece I worked hard on and took seriously with *care* towards their character. oof!
Yes! I think you made a good point that it's also possible that some people just don't see how that sort of humor should be reserved for friends, and not used on strangers.
I actually let the dice decide if we was going to break a little in this comic or not. He got JUST below the DC I set for him (which was fairly low bc he's decent at constitution and masking). So I figure he keeps it somewhat together but the cracks are starting to show.
Reduced the price of my Full Body Character Art commissions on V-Gen PLUS added a new Character Design (From Scratch) option β¨

A scrungly pink-haired elf in scrappy and worn out clothes shifts his weight on one foot. He has a wide smile that looks like he is masking some awkwardness or anxiety
I'm working on comics. Look at my son in this panel, he's so scrungly π ( #OC #Druid #Elf #DnD )
I got one myselfβ it's just deniable enough so I didn't say anything, but I still think about it because it was just kind of rude, haha.
So that in addition to this entitlement/expectation...it was odd outside of my bubble of friends!
yes! I felt like I noticed quite a bit of that. That, and there was a sort of general mean-spiritedness going around, too. Like, maybe it's the younger gen's humor or just a bad pocket i stumbled into or something, but I saw defenses/attacks that seemed to be making fun of the creator/OC.
he still needs his tassels, I tend to do those in a separate layer.
anyway. I have Real Grown-Up Job to to do today and it is killing me not to be able to work on this. Stopping and starting projects is very difficult for me!

that was another thing I noticed, too. Something about the general vibe outside my bubble seemed a little hostile?? Like, not everyone, but there seemed to be a lot more anger/judgement in the space that made me uneasy,
But my issue has always been and will always be "it doesn't have to be done it just has to perfect",so, siiigh
I need to get comfortable with a character's shapes and iconography before I can really do a decent interpretation, and that takes time you just don't have when you're trying to do several pieces in one month. .
I'm unsure if I'll do artfight this year. I made some peices I'm really, really proud of last year but also some other pieces I'm embarrassed by π. I don't do well with new to me characters + time constraints.
sketching some new characters
A elf character in clown garb of a hobo/tramp clown and fool inspirations with some flower motifs. He winks with a drunken smile and holds up a brown bottle of liquid with a flower placed in it as if it were a vase.

cartoony illustration of a red skinned demon girl with long red and yellow hair. she is dressed in white and light blue, wearing a cropped tee, gym shorts, loose socks, and sandals. her hair is decorated with various colorful hair clips. there's also a portrait of her, and some of her personal items: a lemon, popsicle, juice box, tea, and hair clips. the text under her portrait reads "SUMMER, she/they".
A drawing of a sleepy girl dressed in a long fluffy cloak seemingly lined with starry clouds, with long sleeves that cover the hands. She had a long dark snake tail and horns pointed up and away from her face. She is also wearing a short frilly nightgown and tall white socks
