Anyone know of anyone, anywhere in New Zealand, who can rent me an Apple Vision Pro for a week? Need to test an app.

I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid that requires you to upgrade to iOS 17 or later.
Isaac’s Razor says never attribute to complex, probably undiagnosable mental health conditions anything that can be easily explained by chronic alcoholism.
whoops, my bad
<levers the megalomaniacs back onto the cart>
depends on the megalomaniac
I think there’s a lot more fellating megalomaniacs and service businesses that slowly eat your brain than anyone really anticipated

Yeah i feel similarly, and we run even the Switch games we already own through emulation and then stream them to TVs or whatever. Ironically, I still use a Switch as a streaming client, so often I’m playing an emulated Switch game over a network on a real Switch.
* Unofficial PC port, I hasten to add, based on reverse-engineering.
There’s a PC port of the very first Animal Crossing now and oh man it takes that attitude to the extreme. Want to save your game? Haha, not until you listen to Rover talk for an hour and then two more being Tom Nook’s involuntary manservant.
yeah they have smaller eggs
The weird thing about American politics is the general population is still loosely divided 50/50 on whether you should give guns to children, but institutions like the Supreme Court have already decided the whole democracy experiment is now over and are busy stripping the wiring out of the walls.
otherwise they’ll get left behind!
beautiful
A photo of a large orange tabby tomcat with his mouth wide open looking particularly stupid.
My incoherent conclusion is that a new kind of politics might be possible, but the actual job of doing that politics might end up looking quite different to how it looks now, and attracting quite different people to those roles.
NZ has an (excellent) prominent local body politician who makes a point of live-posting council meetings: a huge amount of extra work, but also a very clear lens on how fundamentally lazy and ill-prepared a lot of representatives are at that level.
Part of Mamdani’s success is definitely just comms managed by people who aren’t 60 years old, but it’s also hard work, to a degree that many incumbent representatives are probably unwilling to adopt.
Post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet:
Bertie, helping me in the garden.

It was a tough call but this photo of Boo a week after we got her as a puppy is my favourite I think.
Just standing in place and letting them open up the side of their car driving past your claws would be extremely satisfying.
How upset people get when you punish them afterwards is honestly the weirdest part of the whole pedestrian near-death experience.
People get weirdly upset when I punch their car after they try to kill me. Apparently life-changing injuries are fine but unwanted dents is where they draw the line.
