I wasn't sure what @tweedpipe.bsky.social would make of #LandBeneaththeWaves, so I was made up when he gave such generous feedback. I particularly liked his comments "This one's different" and "It will endure long after more emollient books have been pulped." Thanks Charles!

I just finished "The Screaming Sky". An amazing book. It's about swifts, and about the author's obsession with them (and @tweedpipe IS obsessed!). More than that it is a deep dive into the perfection & miracle of any and every species, each an equal product of evolution 1/4..

‘Real ale is like many rare & sensitive animals. It is driven out by noise & smoke & bright lights. It thinks that pubs are places in which to drink, talk, laugh, sing & play darts, rather than places for standing sullenly, fighting, & catching herpes from teenagers.’ @tweedpipe
