Publication day for 'The Edges of the World' - far and away the most significant book I've written (and the hardest to write).

Some of you have kindly asked for some more details of the book. There's something about it here: www.penguin.co.uk/books/454189...
That's very kind, Aggy. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Lew!
It is written, and indeed printed: it will be published in January.

Soon my next book, 'The Edges of the World' will be published. It's the most important thing I've written. I'm told that preorders are particularly important to the eventual success of a book. So perhaps you might.....https://tinyurl.com/277bth3p

An endorsement of Land Beneath the Waves with the cover and the endorsement above: A taut, unself-pitying inquiry into the nature of nature, the nature of suffering, the caprice of memory and the slipperiness of identity. Charles Foster, author of Cry of the Wild.
I wasn't sure what @tweedpipe.bsky.social would make of #LandBeneaththeWaves, so I was made up when he gave such generous feedback. I particularly liked his comments "This one's different" and "It will endure long after more emollient books have been pulped." Thanks Charles!

You'll learn lots of amazing swift science too, and while reading this I have certainly been looking up into the spring skies with an extra dose of awe and respect. 3/4
And beautiful illustrations by @JonathanMPomroy and tactile, high-quality and pleasingly tactile production by @LittleToller. Highly recommended 4/4
This year I chose two Books of the Year.
Paul Donald's @Alauda123 Traffication
and
Charles Foster's @tweedpipe Cry of the Wild
Very different books except for being equally superb. More info and full reviews markavery.info/2023/11/26/this-blogs-bo...
I just finished "The Screaming Sky". An amazing book. It's about swifts, and about the author's obsession with them (and @tweedpipe IS obsessed!). More than that it is a deep dive into the perfection & miracle of any and every species, each an equal product of evolution 1/4..
"The name real ale says it all. It is real stuff for real people, drunk in real places for real reasons" http://t.co/jzD9I9XqQy @tweedpipe
‘Real ale is like many rare & sensitive animals. It is driven out by noise & smoke & bright lights. It thinks that pubs are places in which to drink, talk, laugh, sing & play darts, rather than places for standing sullenly, fighting, & catching herpes from teenagers.’ @tweedpipe
"Have you ever wondered why the lager producers market their stuff as best drunk ice-cold? Cold anaesthetises your taste buds!" - @tweedpipe
Good morning. Very mild isn't it? It is here. A week from Christmas Eve. Long nights. Time to settle down with a good book?

This week’s #InspirationAleQuote comes from the great Charles Foster (@tweedpipe). Sadly, this sentiment is as true today as it was in 2011. https://t.co/soMAZLsklX
