It is becoming more rare, true. The Atlantic & Vanity Fair can still keep my attention. And I have the best conversations over the next few weeks afterward!

We use birthday to narrow down patrons who have lost their card. That’s how I look myself up to check our books, etc. it never fails to astonish me how many active patrons in our system share my exact birthday. I don’t know why I expect all the peeps born on a random Friday 51 years ago to be dead.

I would LOVE to have that kind of “win!” I must research this! (Luckily, I have easy access to an amazing reference department at work. Who helms this amazing team? Why that would be me!) #humblebrag

It’s one thing to be an adult hearing this news. It sucks. But what really tears me up is thinking about the kids that are watching themselves, family or friends being legally ‘removed.’ Part of the identity they are trying to figure out is illegal to read about?

Went to a (very interesting) talk and accompanying exhibition on Friday about the areas where art meets mathematics and geometry.
Was most impressed with this daring exploration of geometric form until I realised it's where they display the cakes when the café is open.

Like I tell the THIRD GRADERS who visit our library, “books love us, just like we love books. Would you staple your ear to your face? No!!! Please don’t make the book sad.” Then we make bookmarks & get back to fun.

I’m shocked and disappointed that this arises from a suit brought by Valancourt (which I’ve long recommended for their work to republish early Gothic works). I don’t know that I will going forward.

Texas is bluer RIGHT NOW than Georgia was in 2012. Forsaking the south is a moral and strategic mistake. Elevating disenfranchised voters across the country is one of the single most effective tools (with regard to electoral politics) we have for curbing the encroachment of fascism

Sitting in an Orlando hotel waiting out Hurricane Idalia, I figured rather than write a new screed about TV reporters standing in dangerous areas during big storms, I'd just repost the last diatribe I wrote for the last storm. READ: loom.ly/NMCfEYI

There could be some hiccups on the way to transforming New College of Florida from a normal college into a sports mecca:

"New College doesn't have any athletic facilities and hasn't yet been accepted to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics."
