Behold Bicharracosaurus!
Yo fui revisora y les di la enhorabuena por el nombre 🤣
📢¡Recordatorio!
Aún quedan plazas, ¡aprovechad, que el taller es la semana que viene!

Giant honeybees (Apis dorsata) synchronize thousands of abdomens in a wave to repel hornets from their nest
I seem to recall that there are working groups at Europeana looking into this; let’s see if there’s any news soon😊
Chapter 5 of Moore et al. 2022 is very interesting! Although, again, it’s in the US: Copyright and Legal Issues Surrounding 3D Data
alastore.ala.org/content/3d-d...
It is important to stay informed, at least with a basic understanding of this topic, because some institutions have very restrictive contracts regarding authorship and licensing of created 3D models, and we need tools to prevent such abuses.🔽
For example, 3D data for research purposes shouldn’t reflect the author’s subjective perspective (such as an artistic interpretation or an intellectual creation), which makes licensing a bit more complicated as we currently understand it. 🔽
It really is a fascinating topic! I looked into it in more depth a couple of years ago, and I should check whether it’s been updated, but as you say, the situation is similar in the EU. The main issue is how research data is treated in terms of copyright. 🔽
Posting my 3D dynamic Pteranodon folding wing membrane model again.
I never got around to making a propatagium & uropatagium to go along with it, but this was still a useful proof of concept should I ever make a full animated pterosaur (which I fully plan on doing, eventually).
📢And here it is!!
How should I publish my digital fossil? Recommendations for the publication of comprehensive 3D datasets in palaeontological studies
We hope to spark further discussion on this topic and that positive changes in all the data cycle take place

SOOO COOL
What began as mere curiosity has turned into one of the papers I’m most fond of, and through which I hope to help researchers appreciate the benefits of Open Science and follow best practices when generating and sharing 3D datasets.
So, stay tuned!! 🤩
And that was when, out of interest, I began researching the guidelines and policies of journals, publishers, repositories, etc, regarding 3D datasets, which held more than a few surprises for me. I would take my tiny laptop to work in cafés and malls near my son’s Kita.⬇️
In late 2023, the MfN suffered a major cyberattack, and for several months I was unable to access my workstation to work on the vast amounts of 3D datasets we generate for the Tendaguru dinosaur collection.⬇️
💻I’m currently proofreading one of the works I’ve been most proud of, and it’s not about dinosaurs… If all goes well, it’ll be published next week.⬇️
BREAKING: The blackout in Spain and Portugal in April 2025 did NOT happen because of renewables.
The final ENTSO-E report on last year's Iberian blackout is out — and it's essential reading for anyone working on the energy transition.

#TalDíaComoHoy nos dejaba Elizabeth Magie. Inventó The Landlord’s Game. Charles Darrow le robó la idea y patentó una adaptación (lo que conocemos como Monopoly). Ella ganó $500 con su juego. Él se hizo millonario. Para más inri, su juego era una crítica anticapitalista.

Illustration of an anthropomorphised Brontosaurus in an early 19th century dress standing with a quill pen in her right hand at a writing desk with a sheaf of papers. She faces left, but her head is turned slightly towards the viewer. Beneath the desk are scattered a few more sheets of a manuscript. In the background, a framed silhouette portrait of the head and neck of another sauropod hangs on the wall.

Because this seems to be doing the rounds again elsewhere. Perhaps the only piece of mine to have gone mildly viral, shunted uncredited like an orphan from workhouse to workhouse across the Internet over the years. 🤓
I'm making an 8K render for large print and display use and I'm just kinda vibing with how this foot looks in high res here
Happy #FossilFriday! Here’s a fantastic sauropod discovery from 2024 that gives us a rare glimpse of basal rebbachisaurid evolution in the Cretaceous of Argentina.
Congratulations to the research team on adding an important new piece to the puzzle of sauropod evolution!
