"You've got to beat the drum in life," said [French chef Paul] Bocuse of his unabashed talent for self-promotion. "God is already famous, but that doesn't stop the preacher from ringing the church bells every morning."

Ah, so the king always lands on c1 or g1?

Well, that’s my point, it’s a mirror image of the usually setup. Say, 1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bf4 Bf5 — that’s an Italian Game; 1.e4 e5 2.f4 — Queen’s Gambit and so on

The starting position of the morning round in GRENKE Chess960 tournament. I wonder if the players realize it’s the same position as the standard chess, only with square colors reversed? 😂

Half of the games in the Candidates tournament so far look like Fischer random chess (Esipenko-Giri being the latest case in point).

And only Matthias Bluebaum is playing the same isolani structure for the third time in a row with White 😄

That was a tournament, not a match?

Celebrating a graduation, Mozart-style 😄

"The Divertimento No. 17, K. 334, was possibly composed for commemorating the graduation of a close friend of Mozart's, Georg Sigismund Robinig, from his law studies at the University of Salzburg in 1780. It is the longest of the divertimenti by Mozart."

I’m quoting this game in my book on Smyslov — Petrosian was playing him right after that loss to Kotov 😂

Strong vibes of Petrosian’s shortest loss in this one 😄

It’s only preseason but Quentin Post and LG Cryer were very impressive in the 4th quarter. And I predict Steve Kerr giving Pat Spencer a lot of minutes in the regular season 😂 #GSW

«Рождество в Америке — это великий и светлый праздник коммерции, ни в какой связи с религией не стоящий. Это грандиозная распродажа завали, и, при всей нелюбви к богу, мы никак не можем обвинить его в соучастии в этом тёмном деле.»

The final position of Chigaev-Sindarov, Julius Baer Cup (online rapid), 2024

The final position of Chigaev-Sindarov, Julius Baer Cup (online rapid), 2024

To celebrate Javokhir Sindarov's today's victory in the Round 5 of Chess World Cup, I'll share my favorite game of his.

You have probably heard of "Sting's Bishop" against Kasparov but here Sindarov managed to entomb not one, but two pieces of his 2600 GM opponent! White resigned

In my case, there is a significant overlap between these two categories 😄

Those of you who are watching #chess World Cup - are you also rooting for the grandmasters that you randomly happened to play with in some tournaments? 😄

Was wondering how clear is the final position after 1.Nxd4 Nxd4 2.Ra8 Nc2 3.Kf1 d4 4.Ke2 d3+ and I guess White should play 5.Kd2!? (5.Kxd3 Ne1+ and Nxg2), then g2-g3 or Ra8-a4 first. Must be winning, but still a few tricks left, especially in a blitz game

Had the strangest dream tonight - I was playing chess against a grandmaster and reached the ending with a king and a WATERMELON against a bare king. I was trying to figure out if I could checkmate with these pieces until I finally woke up 🤨
