Eastern Kingbird resting on a branch with green leaves. The background is soft with pinks, yellows and green poking though to imitate sunlight through leaves.
Eastern Kingbirds are grey black on the upperparts with light underparts. They have a long black tail with a white end and long, pointed wings. They have a red patch on their crown, seldom seen unless provoked to defend themselves, a mate or territory.

Eastern Kingbird - final render
I have been trying to add more texture to my work. I genuinely like how it's going, it has that feeling of chalking/color pencil slow build up I miss from traditional art.

Yesterday's doodle... I was bored because I didn't have much work.
Japanese tit is truly majestic and adorable.

Traditional ink drawing of two black-cheeked lovebirds, digitally coloured. They are sitting next to eachother, being all lovey-dovey (wait, they're not doves! Lovey-parroty?). One looks a little sleepy and/or grumpy, while the other is up in the first one's face trying to show affection. Signed "Dirx" and dated 2/22/26.
February's #BirdWhisperer! I had so much fun drawing and painting these two cuties, and learned a lot in the process!

Thank you, I hope you´ll find the courage to play around with it! You can always start small, adding just one color for little details, before committing to more :)

A colored pencil drawing of a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo 🪶 #BirdArt #SciArt
I started working on this drawing half a year ago as a part of the #BirdWhisperer challenge, but I got very busy around that time and only finished it recently. It is far too late for the official posting date, but I am glad I completed this one!

Monochrome sketch of a gyrfalcon perched on a branch on a green background
I did actually start this earlier this month but only managed the basic composition. So, rushed through the rest of it (or, “all of it”) today. Well done self, you tried. Happy ten years, #birdwhisperer!

A watercolour painting of a gyrfalcon perched on an upright branch. The background is a flat wash of dark blue and pink
My gyrfalcon for January's #BirdWhisperer. Those feathers were a challenge! I started thinking of them as more like a mosaic than anything. #painting #art #bird

a digital painting of a gyrfalcon. he is sitting on a dead knob of a treebranch. The background is vague shapes of teal. the bird is positioned such that his back is to the viewer, and his pattern of dark feathers with white outlines can be clearly seen. his head is in profile, looking back over his shoulder, displaying a hooked beak and piercing eye.
This month's #BirdWhisperer is a Gyrfalcon! I spent way too long on this but I love how it turned out, haha

I drew lots of them as a kid, but sadly don´t have any recent drawing. But I´m sure it will happen sooner or later 😊

The top middle one is digital from start to end, and the bottom middle one is done traditionally, but edited digitally later :) a regularly work both traditionally and digitally, but for the birds I prefer the traditional look.
