Lots of people who are self taught are able to do it! I’m just super baffled by why I still can’t after 20+ years lol I’m not mad or complaining I just find it really strange

Like I feel like I end up just redrawing something a million times to understand it but using references gets so weird for me bc I can get the general idea but I can never make a 1:1 copy like some other people can for art studies. I mean I guess part of it is lack of formal training but…?

I feel like a lot of the time I could be better at drawing if I had the time to actually do studies but sometimes I also feel like my brain is super not good at copying what I see and I just have to improvise…? I’m not sure if it’s a disconnect or the lack of that skill but it’s interesting
