** Okay this is cheesy but it's been a while I wrote a thread and I wanted to challenge myself writing Takeda confessing first 🤭

This time, Ukai didn't dodge; instead, he leaned in for a kiss, but it was Takeda who pulled away.

"I would have listened, you know, if you had any good reasons. But being you isn’t. Not when it’s what made me love you," he confessed, before allowing Ukai to kiss him senseless😇

Ukai couldn't even retaliate. "I care about you and the gentleness of your heart even if you don't see it. I like that you spent an hour with Yamaguchi today because he was anxious or that you still call Daichi to make sure he gets enough rest. That you always make me feel safe."

When he said it like this, Ukai could almost believe him. He didn’t even move a muscle when Takeda cradled his face, looking at him as if he were precious. Not many had ever looked at Ukai like that.

"I don't care about your grades back in school or your job," Takeda whispered.

His wobbly grin hit Ukai like a punch.

"Sensei… just look at me."

"But I do. All the time. I watch you spread yourself thin for everyone around you. For the kids or your friends and your family. Have you taken a look at yourself recently?" Takeda cooed, taking a step closer.

He was about to close the store when the teacher stormed in out of breath.

Ukai ran to him. "Sensei, is everything..?"

"I know you're avoiding me. I get it. But I just need to know why. Tell me. Or do I have to get on my knees and beg? You know I won't give up," Takeda rambled.

Not when Takeda still looked at him with pleading eyes. Sadness would have been easier to deal with. Anger too. Yet yearning, so gentle and patient, was making Ukai nearly lose his mind with the urge to give in.

Something he still mulled over a smoke during another late shift.

Before practice? Ukai was on the phone with a coach in Brazil, hoping to help Hinata for next year. After? He agreed to cover another shift for his mom.

The days went on without a hitch.

Ukai made sure he didn’t have to face Takeda alone. He didn’t trust himself enough to.

Takeda nodded. "Maybe later then."

Ignoring Takinoue's sigh, Ukai left.

It wasn’t that Ukai wanted to deliberately avoid Takeda. There was just so much on his plate, always something popping up at the very moment he was finally alone with Takeda.

Well, he made sure of it.

"I can leave if you need some privacy," Takinoue said with a wink.

"Oh no. It's okay. Sorry Sensei. I promised Kageyama I’d give him a ride at lunch. He has an appointment on the other side of town and well, his parents aren't here and he doesn't want to miss practice later..."
