that's way too light a gauge wire for combat chainmail - that probably wouldn't even stop a good sword.
you absolutely can make mail that will stop a pistol bullet, but you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end - it'll likely cause internal bleeding and break bones.
we've got good tidal pools in the Bay Area, but not like Seattle (that I've found since moving, anyway)

my synagogue's knitting group is selling a bunch of beautiful donated yarn on ravelry to benefit our upcoming 2026 warm clothing drive! ALL proceeds will be set aside for this year's wishlist!!

...and my dogs would like to file a complaint with the management over this, they did not request this rain
tbh, it is sorta normal if you're a Christian that's made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. it's not normal when you combine it with Deus Vult tattoos.
oh no. not yet, anyway.
I mean, it can, like... up to .44MAG pistol rounds, but I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be on the receiving end without knowing what soft armor was under that, and even then, only in extremis...
A rifle round, and you're pretty much fucked.

"I'm responsible for the new policy."
"Oh, you wrote it?"
"I didn't say that."
Also, that they've taken and held ground. It's the latter part that's radically different.
Re: boots on the ground vs. bots - the Ukrainians are currently claiming otherwise. It's effective propaganda, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that they can take and hold ground (in the type of conflict happening in Ukraine).
...and how long he ruled before getting merked by an underling.
I'll take the under on 'hours.'
I thought I recognized (derogatory) that handle.
thank you, that was bittersweet
"SALAD, JELLIED" 👀
it's actively killing people now - forcible detransitions, ending clean energy, gutting health & science, ending USAID - so I'd personally call that worse
About half of all Americans lack a passport.
Also, this could directly lead to the unbanking of trans people.
it's already replacing "results-oriented" in résumés on LinkedIn
That's not entirely true. As orchestrators take off, systems that combine different model types seem likely to enable some substantial advances in physical AI. I suspect that robotics is about to get a lot weirder.
As a techie, I struggled to see value in it when it was rolled out in $lastjob (it was useless with a legacy codebase, and very few of the processes that we supported were document-related), but it's come a tremendous way in the last two years.
I mean, my immediate experience with Verizon's own customer-facing AI is that it's terrible, and poorly integrated with their older systems. But my interaction with it felt more like lazy implementation choices, not a weakness of generative AI itself.
it's a quote from the article where the quote didn't include Bell's first name?
I would have written "[Jeff] Bell..." personally
It's... bumpy.
2 of those are also towns in Massachusetts
wait, you're gonna leave people hanging like this? 😂

...and when they did move it back forward, a lot of that was Eleanor's influence.
