This is insanely cool

uh! so this happened!! (Ooops we did it again...)
THANK YOU! Can't wait to see you all in Anaheim.
There's no point of no return, and Lir and Faris do return to the capital as planned. It's not an adventure in the classic D&D sense, just a journey they have to undertake. But the point at which everything changes is when they realize who's behind all the murders.

If either Lir or Faris fails but the other succeeds, that successful one will be named the next archmage. If they both fail then the stonespeaker in Teorello will continue not to work. (This journey is only the first half of the book. The stakes get higher after they're home.)

I submitted! Did you?
I do not want to create an account or open a subscription I just want to buy a thing and never hear from you again why is this so hard.
Lir is definitely a victim, although it takes a while for him to realize it. Faris is perhaps a victim in a different sense. They are also their own heroes, although they need help to save themselves.

Lir and Faris never feel like giving up while traveling. Once the murders start they do hurry home, but going home after fixing the stonespeaker at the coast was always the plan.
#AprilAdventure #WriteSky
There isn't much danger aside from the antagonist. At one point Faris is stung by a bee? Mostly though, it's the murders that are the problem.
#AprilAdventure #WriteSky
Hinted yesterday, the mystery is why people around Lir and Faris keep getting murdered and who's doing it.
#AprilAdventure #WriteSky
It takes about half the book for Lir and Faris to even figure out someone is out to get them. But when the murders start happening everywhere Lir goes, it becomes hard to ignore.

Nalene, the provincemage of Bralia, is friendly but stressed about their famine. Ellereve, the governor of Sorest, is very friendly, not just because she's a governor, but because she genuinely likes Lir and Faris.
#AprilAdventure #WriteSky
Lir has never traveled long distances on horseback. Not only is he sore, he also doesn't know how to pack and ends up drenched when it starts to rain. (Luckily Faris has an extra rain repellent stone.)
#AprilAdventure #WriteSky
No chance encounters, but the first unexpected thing is that Lir and Faris find that the governor of Bralia isn't living in the governor's manor but in a small townhome with only his butler. Bralia is suffering from drought and famine and Lir and Faris had no idea.

Lir and Faris are traveling to the coastal city of Teorello to fix the broken stonespeaker there. The one of them that succeeds will be nominated to be the next archmage.

If the GOP makes an antipope can we make an antipresident?
Their horses of course, food for several days, and money for lodging. Faris brings a handful of stones and an enormous wardrobe. Lir brings a case of potions and ingredients.

Post from Jacob Harris @jacobharr.is: Realizing that some of my inexplicable sadness about the Artemis II stuff is that it feels like a trans-dimensional communication from an America that took a different path and chose joy instead of fear and hate.
The thing is, we are living in the America that launched Artemis II. This one right here. Remember that the Space Race happened because of the Cold War. There will never be a society of only fear and hate OR of only love and joy. If you want love and joy, find and encourage it.
Moon joy!
The military must not follow any orders to destroy "a whole civilization." Sane members of Congress should say this loudly now.
Congrats!
Lir and Faris are both frustrated that they weren't named the next archmage and anxious to prove they should be.

Mexico’s overwintering monarch population grew 64% this winter, with butterflies covering their largest area of forest since 2018. The recovery remains fragile, but suggests there’s been a positive impact from conservation efforts in the butterflies’ core habitat. buff.ly/XoPKQ9d

I remember once seeing that Louisa May Alcott received the same payment for a short story that I got for one of mine.
Not the same amount adjusted for inflation. The same dollar figure.
Once upon a time you could make a living as a writer. Not anymore.
Full moon joy to all my fellow moon watchers! #ArtemisII
Lir and Faris didn't particularly want to go to the coast, they wanted to be named the next archmage. But since the latter now requires the former they're both doing it.
#AprilAdventure #WriteSky
When neither Lir nor Faris sufficiently impresses the current archmage at the monarch's birthday party, he sends them to the coast where there's a broken stonespeaker with the promise that whoever fixes it will be the next archmage.

It's been a great 14 years with you!
Thanks, I do too! They're also constantly annoyed by each other. Lir thinks Faris is too flashy, Faris thinks Lir is too drab.
Lir and Faris are mages competing to be the next archmage. Lir is noble-born and soft-spoken, Faris is common-born and garrulous.
