it is not open, it is not fair, it is controlled by billionaires and corporations, and their goals are not aligned with the interests of humanity.

it does not “get confused”, it does not “make mistakes”, it does not “lie”

it is not conscious, it has no agency, it regurgitates text fitting the distribution it was trained on. and that distribution is being altered, fast.

The Rust project now has an official presence on Bluesky! ✨

We'll be posting the same on our Mastodon and Bluesky accounts, so you won't miss anything on either platform.

Toutes les décisions de Macron sont faites dans l’objectif de conserver ou gagner du pouvoir donc j’ai du mal à voir le cheminement

As I said, they don’t put it in proposals because it’s so impopular. But they vote the most anti social laws in parliament all the time.

Oh no Macron definitely isn’t smart enough to have meant this. It’s just more of his usual bullshit to appeal to people who’d like to see the trump experiment happen in France too.

They do, and every vote they cast in parliament along with Macron’s neoliberals proves it, but they don’t dare advertise it in public yet because it’s just so impopular

The American habit of using the word “liberal” to mean the left is really pissing me off me these days

Oh so basically you don’t understand the notion of consent! That makes more sense!

But I’ll agree that it’s unproductive to exchange with someone that acts in such bad faith. Ignoring half my replies doesn’t make them disappear, and saying that a policy is unenforceable doesn’t make it go away either.

I live in the EU, I think you’ll find my online rights are very much backed by the GDPR.

Coming back to the comparison with open source code; when a code base that’s available on the internet doesn’t have an explicit license, it is assumed it’s All Rights Reserved. The same thing applies here. No explicit consent, no right to export my data.

2 years ago 0 0 0 0

I certainly do have a right to say what can be done with my data.

Collecting data from users without their consent is a practice of centralised networks and predatory corporations. I thought Bsky was supposed to be better than that, but oh well, looks like that didn’t last

Ah yes, that’s how licenses works. They only apply to content when you *don’t* have access to it. Sure.

I’ll say it again, having open data does not mean having a license to use it for anything.

2 years ago 2 0 0 0

The same thing applies to open source code, for instance. It’s open to access, anyone can read, modify it, download it for private use. But there are still licenses that regulate how you can use it, commercially or not, for private use or not.

Open protocols have terms of service. There are laws surrounding what you can and cannot do with public data. This argument is nonsensical.

You should not expect people to know about every dangerous project you conjure. Making it opt out is exposing people to an unwanted audience, which they explicitly chose to break from by being on the Fediverse.

A Fedi/Bsky bridge that isn’t opt-in is NOT “using ActivityPub”. It’s scraping data from ActivityPub and republishing it into a for-profit network with lower moderation standards.

I’m not wholly opposed to it, as long as it is OPT-IN.
