Ideally $300 should put us in a good place. Currently have $30. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

People may thoughtlessly adapt Chat GPT to, say, do taxes and file memos, but I'm more worried about the people who don't read than I am people who do read adopting it.
All due respect because I don't think this post is arguing this sincerely I think it's pretty important to note that in niche communities AI has been considered the mark of the devil. If anything, I think Gen AI's insistence it can create art has fallen on its face with audiences.
On retrospect it's not surprising this is the only site I've seen people defend smoking meth besides r/meth
everyone got all high on their supply and posted the same "the internet used to be a place you could only use in your computer room! also we used to drink from the hose!" post and Bluesky Paul decided to give us the authentic experience
by the way: i watched this take an entire minute to post
very funny how people blew up their lives for a Twitter killer that can't even load posts on desktop
imagine writing what amounts to the American version of the "transition debate" only for the most popular cited version of your work to be the Harvard bar scene in Good Will Hunting
Phil also mentions It Can Be Done, the podcast we made where we read foundational radical texts and then tried to connect them to our organizing efforts that stopped when either we all got full time jobs or in serious relationships. The big one there is we interviewed Mike Davis.

I've had an internal struggle session about "southern gothic" (mostly because I know it's going to get slapped on me even if I write a regency romance) but if half your story takes place in a no-place that looks suspiciously like the Myrtle Beach boardwalk, well...

Praise from the gang at Single Use, produced by my friend @grilled-peppers.bsky.social, who had praise for my short story "The Caricaturist". I'll link it here.
goes without saying Abigail Spanberger was basically acting like a Blue Dog Dem in congress, one of the people most scandalized by "defund the police"
Toilets getting exposed in non-conference play against a bathtub? Told y'all their flashy style would fall apart against real competition
On 4/30 I answer this question in the esteemed pages of Typebar Magazine
You gotta do more to clean your soul if you work for blackwater or whoever. Walk the earth for a bit.
I'm still hoping to raise $300 to help with the move. Currently at $30. Any help would be appreciated!
Getting off Substack was good for my writing career.
I'm going to be starting a Buttondown here very shortly, and with how helpful their staff is, it's easier than ever to leave that place.
Not a great general, lots of hijinks and smuggling. However his control of New Orleans scandalized the fuck out of Louisiana reactionaries and he praised the Paris Commune. We should have let him go beast mode during reconstruction
Felt like the Benjamin Butler thing was a little close to unironic Sherman guys for my comfort, the difference being Benjamin Butler love is for the real heads
Seann's a writing friend trying to fund a move across state by the end of April so I'm sharing his kofi. He's got a really interesting sounding essay about JRPGS and anarchism in the next @typebarmagazine.bsky.social, and as another Typebar regular I think it's worth helping how you can if you can.
The biggest difference (if I had to guess) is a less successful repression of the left in Europe, as opposed to here, where it was a game over total blowout 100% achievement Nuzlocke run. Having an actual civil society with unions clubs etc gives guardrails to protest I think America may never have
Critical theory is what you need in order to understand what’s happening when a would-be analytic philosopher uses the Derridean language machine to create a simulacrum of critical theory to point at and say “…so as you can see, this Sign is perfectly vacant!”
