Honored Lin recommended me! I happen to have a ton of author copies of my 3 collections that came out from small presses in 2025. if you run out of funds before you run out of titles to buy, let me know & I’m happy to mail. If you enjoy them, I’ve got a press award winner coming out this summer!

I took a few years off of publishing academic work - I'm far more sporadic than you are!

Not sleeping lately, high inflammation. But productive - I've drafted 2 books (1 on lyric, one on literary criticism/feminist critical theory) & proposed them to university presses, wrote 6 articles out of them submitted to various journals, & 1 article out of my PhD dissertation submitted #writing

Man, hyperfocus is wild. I think I might have accidentally written most of a decent scholarly article on Victorian literature and the gaze tonight. Whoops?

So if this deal goes through, one MAGA-allied family will own:

Oracle
TikTok
CBS
Paramount
Warner Brothers
CNN

Trump will have his sticky, ketchup-covered little fingers in every facet of how Americans get their news.

Jean-Paul Sartre hated stickiness. He was fundamentally anti-honey. Yet he had a beautiful way of describing how subject and object come together through touch, a discovery of "something like a flesh of objects..."

It's just insane the degree to which the federal government has simply declared war on a U.S. state. A punitive war with no discernible objective other than to immiserate its people. bsky.app/profile/apne...

I need to create a database of all the ways I'm discovering schools and libraries undercutting their state's Freedom to Read laws. We knew it would happen and we know it's happening, but the methods by which it's being done are fucking wild.

Book banners will ban books, law or not.

There are rumors of rampant outbreaks of measles & other diseases in current facilities where the overcrowding is intentional & has been a 'passive' way to kill people for a long time. The current facilities are intended to break down their physical and mental health, if not outright cause death.

WHAT A PRIVILEGE IT IS TO BE SO INSIGNIFICANT (part one)
by Emma Bolden

Last night I woke a fever, 2 a.m., I worried how
to tell you what I can and can’t consume.
My stomach turns me. If I write for forty days

and forty nights, will I get to the bottom of me,
a lake drained of its drink, a fish white-lipped
there, gasping? Outside of my window and even

at nighttide the azaleas slouch, indecent, fawning off
their fuchsia threads against a broad swath of gray.
In the dark I am invisible like a loom of stripped wires

sparking behind a wall. I have nothing more to say
to you because I have no you to say a thing to. A warped
reel of birdsong whirls up my throat. By this age I wanted

to know the body as an object exquisite, jewel-cut
and gold-set, a beautiful treasure beneath smooth hair.
Now I am a table saw trying to be elegant, trying to know

the world by dividing it, piece by piece. At night I lay down
in the long bed and shiver up to the wild profusion
of my own hair. Into the dark I set loose a flock

of syllables. I watch every word’s winging, bright-
beaked, luminous. I should’ve clipped them gone.

i'm so excited to have a poem in the latest issue of Radar Poetry. if you head to the website you can hear me read it, and the issue is a beauty--AND there's a stunning poem by @wordperv.bsky.social there, too!

The Olympics disqualified a Ukrainian athlete for using his helmet to honor his fellow Ukrainian athletes who have died in this ongoing war. No political propaganda, they say, as they sell straight up Nazi propaganda from the Hitler era Olympics, under their β€œheritage collection.” 😀😠🀬

Louisiana Supreme Court allows local librarian's defamation lawsuit against Michael Lunsford to proceed - Livingston Parish News The Louisiana Supreme Court has unanimously rejected an attempt by Michael Lunsford and Citizens for a New Louisiana to dismiss a defamation lawsuit filed by Livingston Parish school librarian Amanda ...

Great news for @librarianjones.com: β€œThe appellate court said Jones has a right to argue that the comments β€˜were knowingly false or made with reckless disregard of the truth, and caused Ms. Jones injury, including harm to her reputation, contempt, ridicule, anxiety, and emotional distress.’”

As a translator of poetry, I agree. AI can NEVER capture the nuance of sentiment & meaning contained in poetry. As Heaney famously said, poets channel feeling into words. And as another poet I admire has said, poets summon meaning from elsewhere. It’s a transfer of ineffable energy no AI could grasp
