Last month I was invited by the Similkameen Artist Residency to participate in their AiR Talk Series, and the recording of my talk is now up on their channel! I talk about pigeons, how cool and resilient they are, and how I try to emulate them in my art practice.

Penticton salmon spawning viewing guide!
Red: channel walking trail (on west side of the channel)
Yellow: free and bountiful parking
Green: bridges, good places to look into the water!
Pink: the dam between the channel and lake, with newly-opened salmon pathway
Such cuties! 🥰
(Can you please send me a PM? I am unable!)
The salmon are spawning! My daily bike route gives me a few opportunities to peek into the Channel and see how they’re doing.

Whoo hoo! We’re heading to the convention this afternoon and I’ll be dropping by for sure 😁
The local fall fair had a massive display of apples this year and I did my best to paint all of them! There’s a few duplicate varieties and a couple that I missed because I didn’t catch them in my reference photos 😅

In light of today’s news I’d like to remind you that this is a real newspaper clipping. History repeats itself when we don’t stop it.
So disappointed in @jukeboxprint.bsky.social, they’ve been my go-to printer for years. Lots of alternative suggestions in the comments on the original post though!
Some WIP photos I also wanted to share, as I'm continuing to feel the urge to create physical art and document the process.
A small watercolour painting of the lakeshore of Lake Como in Italy, featuring some villas, houses apartment buildings, and green landscaping.
"The Villa on Lake Como" 5x7". watercolour and pen.
A gift I recently finished for a relative who had a lovely trip to Italy! I used their photo as the reference and they loved it! 🥰

Yay! Congratulations!
Thank you!
I'm very bad at remember what I planted where, and I need to use my sketchbook more, so this year I drew out a garden map! Next up will be the containers on the deck.
"Misc. lettuce" is 3 rows of leftover greens seeds from previous years that I dumped together to see what would happen.

A cartoon drawing of two Canada geese. One is reading a book and the other one is drawing a comic.
Some geese enjoying some comics!

A photo of a watercolour painting in progress of a scene in Italy. Also pictured are the reference photo, a couple of paintbrushes, a watercolour pallet, a cup of coffee, a jar of water, and a couple of books.
I've put my daily comics on hold until the end of the school year because I have some other projects I need to focus on (like this watercolour!). I'll pick them up again in the summer because they keep me drawing even when we're busy doing summer stuff.
Magnificent.
A photo of a skirt with a pattern of cats on it.
I made a skirt! It has pockets!
The pattern is the Gypsum Skirt from Sew Liberated. A super easy project and I want to make MORE.

Happy Mother's Day from this mother-to-be who's nesting in our pear tree!
May 7. I was able to give blood again today! Yay! This was my lucky 13th donation and was my smoothest one yet, which was pretty awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to recover fine and get back in there again soon.

May 5. A lovely ride but a little more pedestrian and bike traffic than I prefer. One of these days I'll make the trip from Penticton to Naramata, though!

Proud of you, Canada 🇨🇦 and Australia 🇦🇺 with love from your American allies.
A photo of a gravel path with short brush and grass on either side and a lake and mountains in the distance.
A photo of a gravel path with a leafy tree on one side and grass and yellow flowers on the other.
Today I biked on the KVR between Penticton and Naramata for the first time (halfway, at least) and it was gorgeous! Please enjoy a couple of stills from my GoPro footage, including the last arrowleaf balsamroot flowers of the season.

May 4. They're at the final stages of nest building now and I hope they haven't been scared off by us and have BABIES!

May 3. I got to take most of my bike apart and clean it with the knowledge that I wouldn't put a wheel on wrong or something and wipe out going down the road! I feel a lot more confident about doing stuff on my own now.

May 2. The beautiful blue sky deceived me! Fortunately things were pretty much dry by the time the wind really picked up.

May 1. He IS the best little weight-loss boy! He also loves being slung over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes and will purr as hard as he can while making biscuits on my back.

April 29. I skipped the 28th because I've already posted it here. I'm glad the election results were what they were but disappointed that it was still so close... plus I made a cake.
