Thank you @cmpisanchez.bsky.social for ensuring a thoughtful, inclusive process around the SAFER Homes Act. ANHD joined members & allies at the rally & testified in support of this critical legislation to improve conditions for tenants & move distressed buildings into responsible nonprofit ownership
📝 More rigorous outreach efforts to let owners and tenants know their rights
🔑 Creates new homeownership opportunities while protecting small homeowners
Read more about the SAFER Homes Act in my op-ed:
www.cityandstateny.com/opinion/2026...
It includes feedback we’ve heard through multiple hearings and countless roundtable discussions.
What it does:
✖️ Eliminates “block pick-up” provision
🏢 Prioritizes the “worst of the worst” through an indexing system of distressed buildings
Tens of thousands of New Yorkers are living in undignified conditions.
The SAFER Homes Act aims to reinvent the Third Party Transfer program by going after the most neglectful owners, while protecting and expanding homeownership opportunities.
Clean streets = safe streets 👀
If you notice unsafe conditions during and after a snow storm, report it to @nyc311.bsky.social. If the issue isn’t resolved, share your report with our office so we can follow up.
Together, we make sure every resident in our community can move safely.
Thank you to my colleagues for their partnership, and the advocates ready to fight for a better city. (3/END)
Mismanagement runs rampant without effective enforcement or meaningful consequences.
This legislation charts a new path forward — by reinventing the City’s TPT program to hold bad actors accountable, stabilize housing in distress + create new home ownership opportunities. (2/3)
Every NYer deserves a safe place to live.
In District 14, thousands of us are living in apartments with substandard conditions—including no heat or hot water during winter, mold, leaks, vermin—undignified conditions.
That’s why, I'm re-introducing the SAFER Homes Act. (1/3)

“We want to implement [these bills] in a way that will bring licenses to every street vendor.”
Gracias to @cmpisanchez.bsky.social for championing the interests of street vendors & working around the clock to pass the Street Vendor Reform Package! 💪

Thank you, @council.nyc.gov colleagues who voted for this reform, including @speakermenin.bsky.social for your unwavering leadership.
I remain committed to seeing through the implementation of this package with the new Administration under @mayor.nyc.gov.
This victory belongs to the people who refused to give up: the staff + members of the Street Vendor Coalition; the brick-and-mortar business owners, BIDs, supermarkets, bodegas + restaurants who kept showing up; the agency staff who understand that dignity + order must go hand in hand.
✊ BIG WIN ✊
Today, New York City is finally reforming its street vending system in a way that works for everyone by overriding former Mayor Adams’ last-minute veto on Int. 431-B.
