Improved weekend service isn't a priority, that's why we're working to make it one. Sign our petition at hudcostreets.org/panynj/action and let's elevate the PATH as a political priority.

We're organizing to improve and extend the PATH, incl. canvassing. Join us at hudcostreets.org/panynj/volun...

On the PATH, #5 busiest metro in America, weekend ridership is above pre-pandemic levels -- but weekend service has been cut, while rush hour service increased. It makes no sense!! The overcrowding on weekends for 20-minute (!!!) service is unbearable.

Well said!

The same $11B would be much better spent on simply repairing the bridge for $1B, and building more transit -- extending the PATH to Newark Airport, the HBLRT to Newark and Bergen County, and fixing NJT.

$11B is a grotesque amount of money to spend on a bridge widening!

It is unthinkable, but NJ continues to forge ahead with an urban highway widening in 2025.

Unbelievable anywhere, but especially from a purportedly blue state and governor that makes gestures at climate, all while NJ Transit continues to be underfunded.

It's amazing how much service has degraded over the years. The critical PATHForward infrastructure refresh should free up additional money & time to run more trains. With ever-increasing weekend ridership, it's time to AT MINIMUM return to historical service - and aim for even better!

Bingo. As there's no extra maintenance happening on the WTC line, the PATH should be running more trains at least from JSQ-WTC, or even from NWK.

They added "bonus trains" on weekends on the WTC line. Great, now run those trains regularly as scheduled service.

Great op-ed. New Jersey should be looking for ways to support transit options into NYC, including improving service on the PATH, NJT, and buses into NYC. Not fighting congestion pricing.

Give people more transit options to get into the city - including on weekends, when the transit is abysmal!

The Turnpike Authority is still going full-steam ahead with the 2-bridge replacement widening in Phase 1. I wouldn't call it "hesitance" until that project is paused or cancelled.

The part that Commissioner O'Connor referred to was the Phase 2+ widening from exit 14A north into Jersey City.

The Turnpike widening is paid for by hwy tolls that were hiked by 35% in 2020; dedicated funding, insulated from state budget woes.

Look at it the other way around. Instead of replacing the current bridge with two 4-lane bridges, build just one and spend the remaining $5B on transit.

At the NJ Bike Walk summit today, great to hear NJ DOT commissioner Fran O'Connor commit to 1) revisiting the $11B Turnpike widening into Jersey City in light of the overwhelming community opposition, and 2) commitment to zero road deaths by 2040. Bravo ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to our 3,000+ supporters for signing onto our PATH petition so far.

This past week the PATH took notice of our campaign and set up the first of what we hope to be many conversations around how we can improve the PATH experience for all riders. More updates to come!

The overcrowding in December was intense and dangerous. The PATH even ran a few "bonus trains" to relieve the crowding. This is why we're calling for more frequent, permanent service on the PATH on weekends. Make the bonus trains permanent, 10m WTC service! hudcostreets.org/panynj/action

I'm an organizer in a grassroots campaign to improve and extend the PATH (hudcostreets.org/panynj) - would love to discuss further with you @replamonica.bsky.social!

Hi @replamonica.bsky.social, thank you for standing up for New Jersey! I had a question but didn't get to it during the townhall: The PATH is the busiest transit system in Districts 8 and 10. How do we ensure the PATH is protected during this time, and are there opportunities to improve it?

This map is incredible. Any idea of the original source? I saw it was included in Gov Hochul's presentation in DC to President Trump.

There isn't a single county in NJ with more car commuters than transit. Hudson County is 92% transit into NYC!

The bike infrastructure in the heart of Jersey City is outstanding! It's the best way to get around the city for medium-length trips: fast, convenient, affordable and - now - safe. It makes the entire city safer and cleaner. Great to see the growing popularity. Build it and they will come!

That's awful. Four gas power plants in four square miles in Newark further concentrates pollution in the most over-polluted part of the state. Newark, and New Jersey, deserves better.

Well said. Living within view of the Statue of Liberty ๐Ÿ—ฝ is a poignant reminder that, for centuries, America has welcomed immigrants & refugees to make this country a better place. Settlement services are a no-brainer and have an immediate ROI - they help people integrate and contribute sooner.

Really disappointed to see the continued opposition to the Congestion Relief Zone by @govmurphy.bsky.social. The program clearly works. The overwhelming majority of New Jerseyans travel to NYC by transit - where is your investment and advocacy for transit? Come on!

Awesome in-person get-together of transit advocates this week in Jersey City to talk strategy. Thank you for joining us and advocating for a better, safer and more sustainable JC @katiebrennan.bsky.social

Thank you Mayor Bhalla for your strong and thoughtful support of transit in New Jersey! The PATH is a critical service in Hudson County and it deserves the attention to truly serve the needs of our community with frequent service.

Another great day signing up people to our petition for better PATH service on weekends! @eleanalittle.bsky.social 20-minute waits between trains at Exchange Place are agonizing, especially when it's not synchronized with the HBLRT schedule.

Incredible turnout this morning to the Liberty State Park Open House! This project is so vital to the health and natural environment of Jersey City and Northeast NJ. We have to get it right, and the plans so far look excellent. ๐Ÿ™

Infrastructure alone won't stop a drunk driver from jumping a curb and crashing through a house.

Great article, agreed. Enforcement is a key plank of Vision Zero, after infrastructure and education. A Vision Zero platform that removes enforcement entirely is not only ineffective, it is politically infeasible.

The key is for infrastructure to be priority #1, _then_ enforcement.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Do you have stats to back this up? My experience (Toronto, NYC, New Jersey) is the opposite - vastly reduced enforcement, heavy focus on infrastructure. The results are mixed.

NO WAY that's awesome! I cannot wait to see you in the all-candidates debates!
