US aircraft to track Storm Éowyn from Shannon An aircraft from the US based National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA is in Shannon Airport for a number of days to study the movements of the strong winds brought on by Storm Éowyn.

Ireland provides a particularly good vantage location from where they can fly their aircraft hundreds of kms out into the North Atlantic using their radar and satellite equipment to examine and measure the ocean surface winds

More high resolution satellite images from today with a lot of lying snow still. The contrast across parts of Cork, Kerry and Wicklow is amazing and really does show that county by county warnings need to change to more granular warnings.

Friday lunch time update with heavy rain in parts but it will mainly clear with breaks later so don’t let the rain put you off voting. A new survey out shows urban voter turnout is more impacted by bad weather than rural areas. So don’t let us country folk put ye to shame in town and cities 😜 #GE24
