Call to join a protest for climate change saying the energy crisis is the climate crisis on a green background with a megaphone
JOIN THE EARTH DAY PROTEST: 5.30pm, 22/4
Next Wednesday, 22nd April, Party Leader Roderic O'Gorman will bring a Green Party motion to the Dáil to mark Earth Day.
It calls for a renewed commitment to our 2030 climate targets, the protection of the Climate Act, and increased investment in nature.

We know that a crisis decades in the making won’t be solved in a day. But this is a chance for the government to respond with solutions that make people’s lives easier now and lay the foundations for a better future where Ireland is completely self-reliant on clean, cheap energy.

Big claims, but a weak case presented by the airlines this week on the Dublin Airport passenger cap.
EU legal opinion is that the passenger cap is likely lawful.
The “Open Skies” argument is untested and unproven.
What sounds convincing…
isn’t holding up in court.

Protesters holding banners:
KEEP IRELAND LNG FREE
STOP FUELING THE CLIMATE CRISIS
NO LNG TERMINALS
and the Extinction Rebellion flag
Near Dept Climate -protesting Gov’s outrageous plan to build LNG import terminal in state-declared climate emergency. You'd expect current demo of vulnerability of fossil fuel supplies to war & geopolitics would give Gov pause, but sadly we can't count on them seeing sense. Demand "No LNG terminals!"

The last thing the North Inner City needs is more casinos preying on our communities. A casino that is already in breach of their planning conditions should definitely not be allowed to expand further into a residential area.

Did you know that one passenger on one return flight Dublin-Paris causes as much climate pollution as a parent who lives 7.5km from a school driving a car to and from a school twice every school day for the whole year (167 days) ?
But if that passenger did that trip to and from Paris using ferry and train, that would be equivalent to only 12 days of the same school runs ? *
Your school can have a big impact by opting to stay in Ireland for school tours instead of flight-based school trips. There are plenty of excellent and fun school trips which can be done on the island of Ireland. Or if you do have a school trip abroad, for cultural exchange for example, your school can look into travel by land and sea! Travelling in this way is a great experience for students, who see the places they are travelling through, and have fun on the journey!
The website http://ByLandAndSea.ie has lots of useful information about travelling by land and sea to and from Ireland. Will your school join the Slow Travel movement ?

❌ We need to stop relying on volatile supplies of gas and oil.
For our security and stability, the EU must have its own supply of energy and renewables are the solution.
We can produce it ourselves, we don’t need to rely on external forces.
💚 Renewable energy is the future.

Email TDs and Senators to stop Darragh O'Brien's fossil fuel power grab
I just emailed the TDs and Senators on the climate committee asking them to stop Darragh O'Briens fossil fuel power grab. Can you do the same?
Jerry McEvilly, @foeireland.bsky.social at PLS hearings:
“The choice before the committee is whether energy security is pursued in a way that strengthens climate law and public trust or undermines both”
Their report is due soon - urge them to protect the climate!

'The new tobacco': The cities banning fossil fuel adverts
Cities across the world are clearing their billboards of flight ads, SUVs, cruise ships and petrol cars in an attempt to cut emissions.
Last year, we urged the Irish government to introduce a nationwide ban on fossil fuel advertising.
They chose not to act.
But across the globe, cities and countries are stepping up—reclaiming the narrative and taking bold action.
Ireland, meanwhile, remains a climate laggard.
