#victoriawood - I saw her live just once at the Albert Hall on a big tour she did, it ended up as a DVD. Funny AF of course but the other moment of the night was having a piss next Hugh Grant in the gents.
I did work with her once on a show called The Angina Monologues at The Haymarket Theatre.

Here’s a still from Tony’s house on After Life - I deliberately included one of those Ikea reed lamps as set dressing because it was one of those things that everyone had.

I had a clear idea I wanted to be a designer at a young age ( 15-16 I knew ) but had no idea how I’d get there. This course after school def cemented my ‘ambition’. Post college I studied Theatre Design then Film School and then started work.
Was in the same year as Marianne Jean Baptiste. She did ok.

Yep all of that …

Exhibit A - on the surface it’s just a film about an American buying a beach and a red phone box, not a film about materialism v community and environmental caution.

Etc etc.

We studied film noir! .. 18 year old kids in East London getting down on the metaphors of shadows.

Sidebar ‘sort of’, I did Film ‘O’ Level and TV ‘O’ Level at a local Tech college in East London in 1984! - you can’t imagine how Incredibly progressive this was , the stuff I learnt about analysing films and TV, especially the social commentary of 80’s TV Dramas I still draw on to this day.

Me on set in Hastings on The Smell Of Reeves And Mortimer, September 1994.

I don’t have many photos of me on set in the 90’s but this is by far the creepiest - I imagine the bike was a prop.

Christ that is hard - 30% for me.
In other news John Boorman’s screenwriter Bill Stair taught me at Film School ( apologies for spelling ) a million years ago.
