A gift for @itsthebeanie.bsky.social, one of my incredible discord moderators! They requested something with critters and something spaced themed, so it naturally followed that I had to draw space raccoons β¨

Last night I dreamed I was back at SuxButts Coffee, working front reg. I had trouble finding things because everything had been rebranded beyond recognition, and the POS kept playing unskippable ads.
Like damn, that's some Black Mirror level satire. My subconscious is such a shit poster. π©·π©΅
This was already canon too.
What flavor is your fursona?
I have my eye on those sleep masks, but I can resist enamel pins!
Identity is like Pokemon. If your parents didn't let you have it as a kid, you might start collecting them as an adult.

*A strange looking raccoon approaches you. She must have smelled your food.*
"Congrats on the self-care achievement!" She says, enthusiastically. "We still struggle with cooking..."
[Give her a Bite] [>Bite her] [Escape]
Newgrounds' approach to verifying age is interesting and transparent.

Great work last night! Looking forward to wherever we see you next!
That's why I'm here making bad art on purpose.
Goofing off and cringe-posting is a healthy and essential part of my learning process. I have a portfolio if people want to see only my best work.
I obviously don't cause distractions at work, but I'm done censoring my weirdness. The world needs it.
This is actually something I feel very passionate about. We all live in this "Instagram Reality" where people only share their best work, and their most "presentable" self.
But others see this "perfection" and compare themselves directly. They think people can actually just be perfect all the time.
I'm here for both. Professionalism is what the pros decide it is, and I think expecting conformity to one's own brand of "normal" is pretty unprofessional.
The teams I work with now are some of the most professional people I've seen and they have a lot of patience (even appreciation) for my cringe.
Yoiko shocked face. Caption says "Our hair turns back into slime when we're tired and it has a squishy crystallized texture because of the imperfections in the synthetic slime we ate." Yoiko happy face. Caption says "It's always 10 degrees below room temperature and tastes like BlΓ₯haj Blast. We can also eat steak with our hair if you place it on our head."
She's so unhinged. We love her. π©·π©΅
Yoiko, wearing headphones and glasses, smiling. Caption says "Making and eating an illegal synthetic slime so we can finally transform into our canine headmate, Dogu. (We watched That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.)" Yoiko shocked face, headphones flying off her ears. Caption says "We didn't realize it would put up a fight or scream so loud. We can't manifest a dog form without dog matter, so we can only change our style but not our species."
New meme format achieved so here's a Yoiko lore dump.
Don't worry, step-sis and I have an arrangement worked out.
But she's a pen tester so she's part hacker. Hacker-board ship confirmed?
A raccoon-slime that thinks she's a dog, showing off her new look. She has pink glasses and her crystallized blue slime hair is styled up with asymmetrical bangs and pink tips.

New look. I've been giving her more of my features, like my lopsided grin.

We finally had some time, so we tapped into our late-night raccoon energy and figured out how the Blender VRM addon works. This is just a sloppy test, but we can wear her now!
Installing a new personality pack.
I've also seen it called Bracketed HDR or Exposure Bracketing.
You don't have to make it look washed out. That's just a (bad) choice on the artists part.
Bracketing allows more selective exposure to prevent clipping and preserve detail. I uniformly merge mine before editing. Like raw but... more.
It's not physically accurate, and there are definitely cleaner and more efficient ways to do this. But it's a good proof of concept and I can use it to make neat holographic materials.
I really just wanted to look at it.

I made a simple blender shader that adds chromatic aberration to reflections. I had this idea years ago and surprisingly I haven't seen it done this way, so I wanted to share.
I posted it for free on Gumroad.

White line art of my raccoon fursona, Yoiko, against a blue gradient background.
Daydreaming π
A screenshot of Blender's UI with my custom Night Running theme on display. It's very colorful with high contrast pinks and purples. I was working on a model of my furry raccoon avatar, Yoiko.
My new blender theme hurts my eyes in a really pleasant way. Dark Mode was too gloomy and Light Mode burns my retinas, but somehow I find this calming and energizing simultaneously.
A very tired raccoon gazes at her work with satisfaction.
There I go working nocturnally again.
A picture of a small flexible circuit board with two variable resistors. It is designed to be soldered to the back of a controller board to calibrate for stick drift.
What about those drop-in "Drift Fix" circuits with the variable resistor that you can solder to the back?
A work-in-progress render of a 3D model of a raccoon fursona. She has blue fur and insides because she took the pills that turn your hair and insides blue.
Yoiko's lookin so cute. I'm getting excited to finish this! π
A work-in-progress screenshot of an incomplete 3D model of a smiling raccoon fursona, with flat-shaded spheres over its eyes that look like bug eyes or coke bottle glasses. The model is lit with green, peach, blue, and pink lighting from blender's normal matcap.
