Swalwell is already on the ballot, so anyone who votes for him is effectively wasting their vote!
When voters can only support one candidate, a late dropout can cause chaos in elections that voters cannot easily recover from. 🧵 ⬇️
This week we'll be sharing pics from volunteers who spread the word about STAR Voting at the No Kings protests on March 28.
First up we have the intrepid Washington DC volunteers letting people know that we can improve elections by updating the way we vote!

Often, candidates are pressured by their own party to drop out of a race in order to prevent this infighting, as well as to avoid vote-splitting. This reduces the choices for voters.
Plurality Voting limits voters' expressiveness, by only letting them give their opinion on one candidate at a time. As a result, candidates resort to mudslinging, even against candidates on their side.
Trump recently talked a Republican candidate out of running for office, in order to reduce negativity within the party. See the article here: thehill.com/homenews/cam...

Ohio has joined 18 other states in banning Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). Although we do not endorse RCV, we believe that banning any voting method is anti-democratic and a loss for voting reform as a whole. It should be up to voters which methods they use in their elections.
We are definitely planning to be more involved for next year's event, so reach out if you'd like to be a part of that.
We met up with our Pasadena chapter and met lots of new people as well. We even met someone from an organization (GOSH) that has been using STAR Voting and bettervoting.com internally for years!
Earlier this month, we attended the SCALE open source conference to learn some cool stuff and share about BetterVoting.com. It was amazing!
Volunteers around the country are getting ready to attend protests today and let people know that we can solve a lot of the fundamental problems in our government with a simple fix to the way that we vote!
Voters are dispersed in a complex and nuanced way. But elected officials are polarized. This is directly a result of the way that Americans typically vote. We can fix this with a better voting method such as Approval Voting or STAR Voting.

"[Approval Voting is] a simple and effective way to improve our top-two primary for an office that only one person can hold, like the governor."

With good voting methods like STAR Voting and Approval Voting, voters would be free to support all of the candidates they like, without fear of vote-splitting. Learn more at the link below!

As a result, many candidates are being pressured to drop out early. This makes it hard for candidates who don't have a lot of money or name-recognition.
And it keeps voters from being able to have a say in who makes the cut.
But there is a better way!
🧵 ⬇️
In California, there is a very real chance that vote-splitting between Democrat candidates could lead to two Republicans being the only candidates in the general election, even though a large percentage of voters are left-leaning.
