Oh this is great: there’s now an #Artemis II Lunar Flyby Gallery on the NASA images site: www.nasa.gov/gallery/luna... (thx @dpmanchee.bsky.social for pointing it out)
“Fight the Moon”
Listening in to the live Artemis II feed. I love the way they talk about everything (jargon, acronyms, plaing English) . Like a bit ago, an astronaut was talking emotionally about how beautiful the views were of the approaching moon, and Houston's CapCom person responded plainly “Copy. Moon joy.”
NASA just dropped this image of Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch looking back at us. The first woman to ever see our planet in its entirety. I’m not crying you’re crying 🥹🔭🧪 📸: NASA
I highly recommend putting this NASA #Artemis II mission livestream on and just leaving it playing as you go about your weekend. Live views of the spacecraft, occasional visualizations of the current config, views of the control room, space-ground radio audio. www.youtube.com/live/m3kR2KK...
Spectacular high-resolution image of our home planet viewed through the Orion Crew Module window by the Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon on Flight Day 2, 3 April 2026 (pic: NASA)
A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)
😮 Awesome views from Day 2 of #Artemis II this morning.

An apparently outclassed Eowyn in mortal combat with Angmar, leader of the Nazgûl. The style is of a bold woodcut.
In a forest, the Hobbits Merry and Pippin sit on the “arms” of the Elk Treebeard while discussing matters with him.
The destruction of Mount Doom. Lightning bolts fire out from a mountain’s summit while a blast carries away its mid-section.
“The Grey Havens” - Three figures on a hill watch a lone ship sail out to sea. The trip ahead is shown to be sunny, leaving behind the rainy skies over the land being left behind.
Some of the small spot illustrations by Eric Fraser that accompanied the Radio Times magazine’s weekly listings for the BBC’s 1981 radio adaptation of Tolkein’s “The Lord Of The Rings”.
I think SNL UK nailed this. youtu.be/nRMgVgdQQbc?...
I mean, horned abomination potato, horned abomination potAto heh
Oh poor animals. In a shop window in the centre of Munich. Am now researching “wolpertinger vs jackalope” and thinking about a crossover 🤔
I see. And the marmot in the baseball cap?
A taxidermied hare with horns and wings, next to a little screaming taxidermied fox with antlers, next to a … I want to say marmot? With horns? And a baseball cap? Oh yes and the hare is smoking a novelty pipe.
What ... no. /Why/ is this?
I can still see it in my mind - staked into the ground, black text all caps on a white background, the whole thing roughly one foot tall.
The best sign I ever saw was thirteen years ago in the western isles countryside, in the middle of the woods next to the road, devoid of any contextualising info before or after: it just read SAUSAGES
Illustration of a clearing in a dark forest with pools of water on the ground among the trees and vegetation. In the water is a reflection of a cityscape with skyscrapers in vibrant orange and yellow with a bright blue sky, contrasting with the murky blue-green colours of the woods. In the far distance an early sunrise can be made out through the trees.
In an ancient forest, shallow pools reflect not the trees above, but a luminous city of elsewhere.
My shortlisted entry for the Cheltenham Illustration awards. Inspired by the changing landscape, childhood (and adulthood) fantasy, reflections, exploration of strange places...

This was really lovely - I feel really lucky that I get to build spaces like this. ❤️
It really gets my goat when people tell me I may not like AI but it’s here to stay & there’s nothing we can do about it. Yes there is! We don’t have to bow down to every corporate demand! We can fight, regulate, use the law. We can & must ensure this tech benefits humanity & doesn’t dismantle it.
I’m really looking forward to hosting this tonight - come along!

Three panel comic. Panel 1: young man in a hoodie looking morose and sitting on a swing set. He says “she’s breaking up with me…” Panel 2: next to him is a glyptodon, an early ancestor of armadillos. With his head in his hands, the young man says “what do I do glyptodon?” Panel 3: the glyptodon says “I’m like an early ancestor of armadillos. The young man angrily replies, “are you even listening man?”
