The alternative is become a hat guy.
Photo showing a concrete wall to the right with a pipe protruding from it with water gushing out of it and falling down to a rusty metal grate at the bottom left.
Drinking the magic water in Gary fixed me. Or maybe it was the fact that I finally had a good weekend of biking, who's to say?
Unlike the Cal-Sag connection, paving this stretch is fully funded. They just need to do it.
Photo of a bike trail that is mostly water, with a biker visible in the distance.
They have not, I repeat NOT, finished paving the Marquette Trail.
Photo of my hand holding a can that says Drink Zorn Beer. Beyond it you can see a couple of bikes and the interior of a South Shore Line train.

Or it's a daycare full of toddlers.
I actually agree that this is pretty much its best angle.
If you're in line to dunk on JD Vance, STAY IN LINE.
Photo of my bike posed next to a tan brick wall of a building. Above it is a sign that reads Wiggles Gentlemen's Club.
No one does it like Northwest Indiana.
I probably won't ride it in snow for the foreseeable future, honestly. I don't do a lot of mud anyway so we'll see.
The fenders are Velo Orange.
I did a fit at a shop as part of the process of ordering it. It's not a custom build but it's a really good fit for me.
Photo of my bike leaning against a wooden railing next to a body of water with an oil refinery and petroleum tanks visible on the other side.
Photo of my bike leaning against the barkless trunk of a tree that has been cut down and is laying on the ground amid dead leaves. There are other trees standing and through them down a hill, a large body of water.
Photo of my bike leaning up against a very large cartoonish boot that is twice as tall as the bicycle.

I haven't spammed you all enough with photos of my new bike yet.
This is in Chicago Heights in the south suburbs.

Photo of my bike leaning up against a wall painted with the colors of the trans pride flag, but in a different order.
I don't know for sure why the wall of this vacant barbeque spot in Calumet City is painted this way, but I appreciate it.
Yes! I've done it a number of times and a few different ways. The route I took today is not one I recommend, but this route I shared a while back gets you most of the way there: bsky.app/profile/eric...
Photo looking up a steep set of stairs to a two-story brick building. The stairs are flanked by very large magnolia trees covered in pinkish blossoms.
Magnolias!
On the campus of Governors State University in University Park, south of Chicago!
I'd be sad if I couldn't ride this sweet bike too!
Photo of Paul Bunyan resting an axe on the ground in a field. A bike is leaning on the axe blade, comparatively tiny in size.
Tall Paul, tiny bike
They are massing just over the border in Calumet City.
Zoom photo looking across a large empty parking lot and passed some vacant retail buildings towards a tall yellow water tower looming above them with a smile painted on it.
BE HAPPY
It took me about 4 hours longer than it needed to because of the temp. And the promise of a big bowl of ramen! Tomorrow will be better.
I SAY I want to ride, but what I really want is to eat, lol
The girl from "The Ring"!
Yep! Similar building shape, same zodiac panels and everything.
He apparently did architecture and cars at the same time for a while before moving completely into architecture.
These modernist buildings were his later work, but he did also do brick and concrete neogothic stuff in Hyde Park and South Shore before.
