Zepbound was not available yet when I tried Mounjaro and my insurance probably wouldn't have covered it. I considered shooting my Mounjaro pen into a sterile empty vial and drawing out half with a regular syringe. I managed to lose weight w/o it, but maintenance is tougher. Gained 7 over holidays.

I could handle 2.5mg which is the "starter" dose. After 4 weeks, you go up to 5mg. I don't think I could get 2.5mg at a pharmacy when I tried it. That was just the starter pack. I think you can get Zepbound at 2.5mg, but I think for T2D, Mounjaro has to be 5mg.

I'm curious what dose you're on. I couldn't handle the lowest prescribed dose of Mounjaro. I couldn't even eat 1200 calories per day while taking it. But I was on the half dose for a month and I did well. It got me started anyway. I lost 90lbs and I credit that month on Mounjaro for the kickstart.
