It’s time for the final session of From Ideas to Innovation 2026 🗣️

The focus is on advanced #ProstateCancer, and we’re delighted to be joined by speakers Professor Gerhardt Attard, Dr Ashwin Sachdeva and Dr Emily Grist.

Kicking off the first session of the afternoon 🎤

Simon and Hayley from our research team are sharing how @prostatecanceruk.bsky.social can support researchers - from making key introductions, to our open access reimbursement scheme, to helping their work reach the audiences that matter.

Derek’s father died from oligometastatic #ProstateCancer, before Derek was diagnosed with the disease himself some years later.

After his surgery, Derek began volunteering for @prostatecanceruk.bsky.social and served as a patient representative on our research committees for over 10 years.

Next up is a session on primary and metastatic cancer.

Our first Patient Research Partner today is Vincent.

Shortly after retiring, he was diagnosed with #ProstateCancer, with no symptoms beforehand.

After a radical robotic prostatectomy and excellent care, he achieved a curative outcome with minimal side effects.

We’re now in the auditorium for the first session of Day 2 🎤

Our Director of Research, Dr Matthew Hobbs, opens the day with an update on work to develop the @prostatecanceruk.bsky.social 10-year research strategy.

Following a day of talks exploring the latest research in risk, treatment resistance, screening, and imaging, the first poster session is now underway—showcasing a wide range of high quality prostate cancer research.

Our final Patient Research Partner talk of the day comes from Robert.

Successfully treated for #ProstateCancer in 2003, he served on Prostate Cancer UK’s Research Advisory Group, PPI and Research Strategy groups until 2025, and has supported fundraising events including #MarchforMen.

We close the day with a session on imaging and staging in #ProstateCancer.

Our next session explores barriers to thriving in the #ProstateCancer research community, with opening reflections from Black researchers.

We’ll also explore practical ways the community can drive positive change and ensure everyone can thrive and make an impact for men.

Sue’s husband was diagnosed with #ProstateCancer at 52.

After running out of licensed treatment options, he joined a Phase 3 abiraterone trial that extended his life and improved his quality of life.

It inspired Sue’s passion for research, early diagnosis and better treatment.

Our next session is all about TRANSFORM - the biggest #ProstateCancer screening trial in 20 years.

Robin is our next Patient Research Partner on stage at the @royalcollegeofgps.bsky.social.

Diagnosed with low-risk, localised #ProstateCancer in 2006, he has been a volunteer with Prostate Cancer UK since 2008 and has served on national research and funding committees as a patient representative.

After a short break, we're back underway with our next session on #ProstateCancer risk.

Speakers Professor Colin Cooper and Mr Harveer Dev are part of a team using genetic data to predict progression and reduce recurrence.

First up is Simon, diagnosed in 2011 aged 49.

He’s taken on many fundraising challenges, raising thousands for charity - including £45,000 for Prostate Cancer UK in 2018.

Our first session explores treatment resistance in #ProstateCancer.
