It snowed. Again. April. Wow. My back yard is white.

This is some kind of nonsense where I notice the first dandelions blooming in the morning and tonight it’s all covered in an inch of snow. #northerngardening #gardening
What!? Apparently one of the adaptations that queen bumblebees use to survive flooding during winter diapause is slowing their metabolisms so much they can respire UNDERWATER for up to a WEEK. They also accompany aquatic respiration with anaerobic metabolism. I'm stunned. What superstars! #虫 🧪🌎
I started keeping fish so that my plants would be healthier. I keep my fish healthier by using the plants to remove nitrates from the water… a good cycle!

View of the marshy lake in very early spring. No leaves or green grass yet but a beautiful blue sky.
It’s nice here.

Mule deer with only a single antler spike looks at me annoyed I disturbed his buffet.
If unicorns aren’t real then explain this! #deer #unicorn #wildlife #muledeer
Lovage is so great! Be warned that it’s a bit stronger flavour than celery so go lightly adding it to potato salad and whatnot! I love it though.
Oh ouch!
Replaced the shock absorbers on my very old but excellent Miele washing machine and feeling quite accomplished! Testing my handiwork now with a big load of towels. #diy #appliancerepair #makedo #zerowaste #lowwaste #repair
Lovely! I’m growing dragonfruit from seed too but it got infested with thrips… currently doing damage control but it’s looking pretty sad right now!
Guys I sort of forgot about this app - is it still fun here?

These days this is actually kind of a flex that you’ve never given money to JKR.
Same!
I completely missed out on Titanic, and also Sixth Sense, but have seen so many jokes and memes I feel like now I don’t need to.
A handful of colourful peppers and small tomatoes from the greenhouse.
If the #garden harvests have not been plentiful at least they’ve been consistent. Here’s my daily little handful from the struggling plants in the greenhouse. Each year I learn a little more about what works where. This year I really struggled keeping the greenhouse plants watered. #gardening
Pink plume celery! I need to know - who knows anything about saving seed from celery? Hit me up with your tips because I’d like to grow this one again without purchasing. #gardening #seedsaving #chinesecelery #garden
Can we share TikTok videos here? Anyone know? I’m not seeing an easy share button anywhere…
It is, isn’t it? A booth at one of our local Seedy Saturday events had a whole bunch of these handmade baskets and I had to take one home with me!
Little harvest basket. #gardening #potatoes #harvest
So perfect!
What a lovely problem to have!
2025 me is so grateful that 2022 me decided to start “mignonette” alpine strawberry seeds so that I can gather little handfuls of tiny red berries each day as a snack!

Thimbleberries beginning to ripen
Thimbleberries! These are plentiful in the general area but sadly not common at all near where I live! #foraging
Little pink and green sorrel seeds - they look sort of like little bits of confetti attached to the branch.
Sorrel seeds are so pretty! I added these as filler to a market bouquet I bought. 😍

Alpine blueberries.
Bunchberry flower.
Salal flowers.
Some little finds walking the trails around Squamish (but don’t worry - the only thing I “foraged” was one or two blueberries as a snack). #foraging
Ooo exciting!!
Nasturtiums are awesome!
