This is so far a fantastic read. I am really enjoying how Lynes is recontextualizing deconstruction in the framework of anti-correlationism and speculative realism via Derrida’s Blanchot-Heideggerian writings on the Thing, situating it on the basis of nature/physis and environmentalism.

In a Theory Session presentation I gave in 2020 with my department, I conceived of an invariant, soterio-logical parallelism, so I think this might be useful to return to.
I wonder what another text on non-theology would be like if it took as occasions Scholem, Eliade, Rosenzweig, Corbin, and Hans Jonas. Not so much in the vein of Laruelle’s non-Christology and future mysticism or Grelet’s non-religious gnosis, but maybe through the lens of redemption.
This is surreal to me.

Breaking some radio silence to show a diagram I’ve been working on that visually represents the process of non-philosophy. There’s a lot of work to clean up here, but it’s a start.
Pairing it with Ballard’s “Build Up” and Glaspell’s “A Jury of Her Peers” as the introductory short stories for Weird Fiction and Mystery, fused well in TC&TC.
Next term, I’m pairing Miéville’s The City and The City with Kafka’s The Trial, Walter Mosley’s Devil in a Blue Dress, Dick’s DADES, and Calvino’s Invisible Cities (with some of his selected short stories).

All I know is that the incoherence of these positions can be hurtful to those who espouse genuine anti-fascist values. Finding that ground that alters this universalizing process of atomization will have to face up against the radicalization of the pundits.
I don’t have any programmatic perspective or whatever; however, one can draw lessons from this as the further fracturing point of the US right, and we are entering into somewhat uncharted waters with these incoherent positions becoming more common place.
I find this to be a paper tiger because at this moment, the figurehead emboldening the movement is recognizing and making public his mortality. Nobody at this moment has the charismatic spirit to unify all these tendencies.
What might result after this infighting and the impending death of Trump is a universalized alienation akin to, if not outright being the atomization that reflects the loneliness epidemic and the analysis of how easy it is for reactionary attitudes to grip people will continue interminably.
The incoherence of alt-right political positions - to simultaneously hold identifiable fascist and loosely principled anti-fascist values for aggressive ahumanistic tendencies - renders any possible post-Trump coalition building a paper tiger.
