Earlier today, @dcpolicedept.bsky.social’s Traffic Enforcement Unit and DPW impounded a vehicle with 893 outstanding tickets, totaling over $260,000 in fines!

Repeated disregard of traffic law is unacceptable. We'll continue to track down scofflaw vehicles to keep DC roadways safe.

D.C.’s speed cameras are catching super violators. Most have Va. and Md. tags. A lack of cross-border cooperation with Virginia and Maryland has allowed habitual speeders from those areas to get away with thousands of dollars in unpaid fines.

📌FY26 YTD, DPW has impounded 3,500 cars with total of $20M in unpaid citations
📌Of those, 1,753 were "high-value scofflaws" (cars with more than $3k in unpaid citations) that owed $18M in unpaid tickets
📌Additional impound lot was opened to hold influx of cars

📌Good data on how big an impact DOGE cuts are having on DC's economy. It's critically important to create tens of thousands of new jobs in DC.
💡Without economic growth, future DC budgets will continue to be an enormous challenge because of flat or declining revenue growth.
