Membership of an Institution is the way to show you are serious about it. I cannot see how we could do anything with Europe that we couldn’t do far better if we were full members of the EU. More and more people are beginning to say that.
I just had reason to look at gdpr-info.eu/art-22-gdpr/, I think it should be better read and understood.
.. It involves British ministers and parliamentarians exercising significant leverage – including vetoes – over the rules and overall direction of the EU from seats in all of its governing institutions. It is the model called membership." See also diigo.com/012d0wq
Rafael Behr crushes it. He says, "...there is an elegant solution ... but it exists beyond the bounds of conceivable scenarios for the current government.
paint.net is no longer free via the microsoft store 😭. Anyone know why?
The Iran war is making everything more expensive for us, but some companies are cashing in. Don't think that's right? Sign the petition now demanding they are taxed more on their record profits to help us all with the cost of living. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/ra...
On copyright law, in the 19th century, music authors deemed trumpets as copyright infringing, as they later did for pianolas & CDs. I was asked for a reference. See Jessica Litman's article "Real Copyright Reform":

The Government announces its response to the Rycroft review. Keep foreign money our of our elections and introduce a cap on donations. Politics should be for all; spending money is not an act of speech!

Despite Trump's support in the International Trade arena, an LA Court has found against the social media giants and will fine them for their failure warn users about the dangers of its platforms. ORG argues that their business models need to be confronted.
An article arrived in my inbox covering an issue I am thinking about. @AnnPettifor looks at the bond markets, the BoE and interest rates. Critically she identifies that the coupon does not change when interest rates do and that interest rates are a policy input not an outcome.
Also without renewable & cool energy, building more AI will worsen the climate crisis.
A Medium piece, about AI economics. If AI fails, there will be a debt implosion within the AI sector and their lenders; and alternatively if it succeeds, there will be an unemployment [ & consumption ] crisis.

Still awful! But yet another example of Starmer changing his mind after asking MPs to stand by a policy he's planning to change.

I have updated my reset article acknowledging the signing of the "EU-UK Competition Cooperation agreement". Does it fit with Reeves’s instruction to the CMA & others to prioritise growth over safety; the Guardian makes clear that HMG’s eyes are on being included in the coming “Made in Europe” law.
Might be time to redo this article, but I am unsure how much difference there would be in the rankings. UK is 10th and we produce about 1% of the worlds chips NB dated 2023

Labourhub on the governance crisis in the Labour Party by Frank Hanson, who calls for "... our last chance to democratise & revitalise the Party .... Along with a political programme, we need a set of demands around restoring Party democracy at all levels. "

Paul Holden, author of "The Fraud", is interviewed on the blog site, Labour Hub. I have not read it yet, but it maybe essential reading for those that want British Politics to have a strong decent social democratic voice.

I support the signatories of this letter and join their call for an independent inquiry into the activities of Labour Together.
I have just booked a ticket to the #RossAnderson memorial lecture in Cambridge in March. Anyone else I know planning to be there. #cybersecurity #artificialintelligence

Like too many, I started a new version of BG3 last night. This time, on Explorer mode. Let's hope I finish this time and don't get stuck. Last night was fun, I enjoyed the easier fights.
Starmer's profound error was to campaign on a left ticket and then to govern on a far-right ticket.
There is no sign of him reversing that error.
The departure of McSweeney will therefore have little impact on Labour's far-right policy stance on immigration, fiscal rules & ' there is no money'.
Strike Map logo. Text reads: You cannot ban solidarity. standing with workers is not a crime. pictures of picket lines.
We stand with the #Birmingham Bin Strikers.
You cannot ban solidarity.
Standing with workers is not a crime.
Shame on @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social.

McSweeney's resigned 'from government'; this is an opportunity for Labour to rediscover its heart, but replacing just one person is not enough. I mirror Clive Lewis's comments from his facebook post.

Pressure's mounting, Adam Bienkov on why and Politico on how. But McSweeny and maybe Starmer need to go.

I have just been on twitter/x and checked some in my 'following' tab; I don't follow them all, How does that work? 😕
euractiv reports that the EU is looking to boost its ship building capability led by 'dual use' vessels. Time for the UK to boost its 'reset' programme. Brexit can't be fixed.
