Since the NS gov is doing fracking info sessions this week, its important to remember that we're the 2nd smallest & the 2nd most densely populated province, which means everywhere is your backyard. We'll all experience the negative consequences.
Anyway, here's some light reading from Texas.

"The [OECD] report notes that long COVID has a health system and economic impact that is similar to stroke or multiple sclerosis, but has not sparked the same response."
That cost? $135 billion per year over the next decade, comparable to the entire annual health budget of the Netherlands or Spain.
Awesome thread detailing all of the solar projects Canada is getting built in 2026.
I've groused about this before, but the push to build a national green electrical grid is probably one of the most transformative projects currently happening in Canada, and it gets almost no attention whatsoever.

In the UK the NHS is absolutely overwhelmed, but the government has tightened the eligibility criteria for free Covid vaccination to the point that only a small minority of the population is eligible. Offering free vaccination to everyone would be an easy win here

Nova Scotia not having front licence plates doesn't help when police insist on people reporting the plate numbers of tailgaters.
There are no words that adequately describe how much I miss being able to go out to gigs, to parties, to festivals, just having a basic normal social life.
Long Covid took all that from me, and it could take it from anyone.

Well done! Takes some spoons to make these calls, even if they turn out not to be painful in the end.

Please read this commentary by Marie Lumsden about the “spaceport” in Canso. This is such a detailed article with so many reasons why this project is just not worth the money the feds are giving it.
I say it too often, but: many public policy problems are challenging and involve complex trade-offs and difficult to measure outcomes, but also many of our problems are basically us just slamming our heads into the wall repeatedly at a societal level, and we could stop at literally any time.
"She said this experience has changed how she thinks of road safety as a councillor" - an awful thing to happen to @beckykent.bsky.social. Sadly, this is the everyday reality for people walking, rolling or wheeling in HRM. We need tangible action on #RoadSafety www.saltwire.com/nova-scotia/... 1/2
@landofsticks.bsky.social FYI your newsletter from Ghost today ended up in my junk folder. Not sure if you wanna gives a heads up to people or not. Thanks for all you do!
As someone who researched and wrote about the impact of COVID on female health care workers, I can't help but notice that these kinds of takes so often come from men.
Even outside of health care, it's usually women who are caring for & worrying about the vulnerable in their families & communities.

A sign that reads "Abandoned Railway. enter at your own risk". It has the province of Nova Scotia label.
A gravel trail littered with wood debris.
A gravel trail that is undergoing construction. The edges are cut back and there are potholes in view. In the far distance there is an excavator.
We rode out to Bike and Bean on Sat. I was concerned that the abandoned railway signs would mean a lack of maintenance. I wasn't prepared for the trail actively being made worse. Lots of construction between Cranberry Lake and Tantallon. Short term pain for long term gain? I'm not optimistic...
